Be aware of the Bear!
I'm the Wildlife Diversity Biologist for Texas Parks and Wildlife's Trans-Pecos District. In the past week the Brewster County Biologist and myself have been made aware of multiple bear observations in and around Terlingua Ranch. To date, we only have official interaction reports for two of these observations. If you have experienced a recent interaction with a Black Bear in the area please contact a TPWD biologist regarding your observation. It is our goal to adequately document the on-going situation and evaluate bear behavior in the area.
You can reach me with your observation reports at
krysta.demere@tpwd.texas.gov
Similar, you can follow Texas Parks and Wildlife - Trans-Pecos Wildlife District for local wildlife updates, including neighborhood black bear alerts and tips on living with black bears.
It is extremely important that everyone does their part to limit any food based attractants that may bring bears into close proximity of our local neighborhoods and homes.

Terlingua MOON
June 15, 2021
Vol.  32   No. 24

by Million sMiles

"Next time two hours hangs heavy on your heads, spend it on our porch. Along in the cool of the evenin', we present 'Sunset on the Chisos' in natural color and on the widest screen on earth. It's pure beauty gone plumb loco in thin blue air. A million pairs of 20-20 eyes can't take in all its beauty. All props ten times older than the pyramids. All sunsets painted personally by the Lord his own self."

Earth and Fire Gallery
Welcome back, Guest Artist, Mark Wojno -
“With my return to Earth and Fire Gallery, I continue to display oil paintings that depict desert landscapes in and around Terlingua. I attempt to convey the vastness, solitude and stillness one finds here through my choice of such elements as subject, light and detail. I hope to portray local landscapes "as they are" without trying to capture brief, dramatic moments in light, shadows or values. I hope to depict the everyday stark beauty of the region that is so mesmerizing.”

On Wednesday, June 9, 2021, from 9:00am -4:30pm, the National Guard will be at both the Panther Junction location, AND the Terlingua Fire and EMS facility.  They will be offering the following (while supplies last) at both locations:

SHOT TIME LIQUORS IS HIRING ‑‑ Looking for Part Time Counter Help.  Our hours are great!  Pay is great!  We want you to come join our team.  Our doors are open again and the store is busy . . . we need your cheerful smiling face behind the counter to welcome folks and ring up their purchases.  Stop by for an application.

SHOT TIME LIQUORS ‑‑ The quieter part of the year is coming around.  Fewer guests at the hotels and local accommodations, not so many cars at the gas pumps, shorter wait for burritos at breakfast spots.  Time to take a breather and sit back for a half a minute and think about the last year.  What a doozie!  We think there is nothing more appropriate than a shot of Sotol in a reflective moment like this.  And we have Sotol.  Lots of it.  No shortage in the Sotol Department!  Hacienda is certainly the leader in the Sotol market, but there are some interesting Artisanal Sotols as well.  Let us show you our selection.

DESERT SPORTS ‑‑ will not be keeping regular shop hours for JUNE 2021.  PLEASE call us in JULY for updates.  THANK YOU to all visitors that made this last challenging season GREAT!!
