"We have one life, one shot at all the glorious things of life, and we walk about constricted, apologetic, afraid. We have so little time; we have so little space upon which to spread our love and our talents and our kindness. Run toward life fulsomely and freely."            ~ Tennessee Williams

From the Terlingua school:  Sadly, our school lost the band hall and robotics lab to a fire that occurred over the night of 2/16/23. We have been overwhelmed and inspired by all of the offers for help that we have received over the last few days. The district's insurance will be replacing the building, instructional materials, and instruments purchased by TCSD. Unfortunately, there were many of the students' and Mr. Anthenat's personal instruments and items that were lost in the fire that were not covered. Any funds that are donated will go directly to either our band student fund or our robotics student funds. These funds are managed directly by our student groups, and will be used to replace the personal instruments and items lost in the fire. Please make the donations to: Terlingua Common School District (note either band, robotics, or both)  PO Box 256  Terlingua, TX 79852

Likewise, many of our friends have reached out to donate instruments, robotics parts, or tools. Any of these items can be dropped off at the school or mailed to:   Terlingua Common School District, 550 Roadrunner Circle, Terlingua, TX 79852.

City of Presidio  Per a reconstruction conference with TDOT, the Presidio-Ojinaga International Bride expansion will resume in Mid March with an anticipated completion in September.

2 years ago today I suffered a massive cardiac arrest in Terlingua TX. I was with my girlfriend Jennifer Pittinger in her car on the way to Alpine hospital with chest pains and the heart attack happened just on the way out of Terlingua. Jennifer turned her car around and raced to the EMS and Marcus E. Smith and his team paddled me back to life. Thank you sweet Jennifer!.  Marcus and his team kept me stable and got me to Alpine and then I was flown to Odessa and got the surgery I needed. A lot of luck and timing saved me...a lot of good skilled people were involved to get me back and be here today typing this 2 years later. The EMS in Terlingua are amazing and important simply because it’s so out in the wild west and they are the difference for those living there between possibly losing your life or in my case keeping it. I will always be grateful to the Terlingua EMS for their professionalism and dedication and all the others in the chain that got me back. Also I will never forget family and friends who supported me with love through that crazy time. God is Great.        ~Markus Manstroma

“To encourage literature and the arts is a duty, which every good citizen owes to his country.”
– George Washinton

TERLINGUA SCHOOL FIRE – as most of you already know, the band/robotics room burned Thursday night.  A neighbor notified Terlingua Fire and EMS, who responded along with Brewster County deputies and the National Park Service.  Crews were able to contain the fire and prevented it from spreading to the library and elementary buildings.  All employees that live on campus and the first responders are safe.  However, all items belonging to the BBHS Band, the Purobots robotics team and Bradley Anthenat, who is in charge of IT/Band/Motor/Robotics, were lost in the fire.
Meetings with the Fire Marshall and insurance adjusters are scheduled this week.  Information on fundraising for students and Mr. Anthenat will be coming soon.  Stay tuned to the Moon for more information.

UPDATE:  This Saturday in The Community Garden at The Market, We will be collecting donations in Jeff's memory to help the students at The Terlingua School replace instruments that were lost in the fire that destroyed the Band and Robotics building last week. We are doing this instead of a memorial scholarship fund.
