FROM CAROLE FULCHER
Our family will be having a celebration of life for my son, Jason Blanton, on June 5th at 5:00 p.m., in the pavilion behind Delia’s. The theme will be Grateful Dead, so wear your tie dye, if you like. Food will be served from 5:00-6:00 p.m.. We will have food. If you would like to bring food it will be welcome, too. Bring your own drinks. Grateful Dead songs and more by Ted Arbogast and Laird. There will be a Eulogy starting at around 6:00 p.m. and a time for all to share any memories.  Let’s all send Jason, a good soul lost too soon, off with lots of love and memories.  Hope to see you there.

REST IN PEACE, SWEET MIKE BLACK
Michael Wayne Black age 63, passed away May 9, 2021 in his home in Terlingua Tx. He was taken by a cancer diagnosed too late..
Mike graduated from Balboa HS and lived on Howard AFB Canal Zone, Panama where he made many special friendships lasting to this day. Mike treasured his time in Panama where his passions of exploration and collecting artifacts was sparked.
His father's memories of growing up in west Texas led Mike to the Big Bend and a little town called Terlingua. Here, Mike found his new home. He became a river guide and found his new passion on the Rio Grande taking river trips that lasted days and beautiful friendships lasting decades. His wonderful friends were there through the end. Terlingua enriched his soul. Mike is survived by his mother Dorothy Black and his sisters Patti and Stephanie of San Antonio, his nephew David Fornos of Austin and his niece Sarah Fornos of San Antonio.. He was preceded in death by his father James H Black and his sister Laura Black Fornos.
Mike's memorial service will be planned for the fall in Terlingua, Tx where his ashes will be spread in the lower canyon of the Rio Grand and a marker will be placed in the Terlingua Cemetery. Even though he is gone his fine spirit remains forever in Terlingua.

GO PAISANOS
Mr. Anthenat - Congratulations to Chase Willard. He passed the ASE A1 engine repair entry-level test and will receive his certificate next Wednesday.
Ms. Willmon-Big Bend Student Council hosted a high school field day on Friday, May 21. The Eighth Class was invited to participate, also. It was a day of mingling with classmates, friendly competition, and food.
Ms. Crockett- Elementary art class completed a pinch pot project.
Mr. Reed-I am honored to congratulate the Big Bend High School Class of 2021 on your graduation and setting sail on your next adventures. None of us were prepared for a school year like this one. With the leadership of the class of 2021 as an example, Big Bend High School students not only navigated the pandemic remarkably, they thrived. It is when we are challenged the most that our characters are revealed. You all have demonstrated that through gracefully supporting each other this year and using your enthusiasm and intelligence, anything is possible. Remember that our school’s strength lies in its uniqueness, size, and community.  You are all heroes to our elementary students. I challenge each of you to visit us often and inspire the younger Paisanitos with the future goals that you achieve.
Graduation on May 28th at 7:00, will mark the end to a school year that was unlike any other. This year's graduation will be held at the pavilion in Lajitas, and due to social distancing will be limited to staff, and scholarship presenters.  Seniors will be distributing tickets to invited guests attending the ceremony.
Terlingua CSD would also like to thank our community, parents, staff, Board of Trustees, and most importantly all of our students for a wonderful year in the midst of the pandemic. Our school has truly been supported as we all worked through making the best decisions we could to provide quality instruction and a positive school experience for our students. ¡Viva Paisanos!
