Terlingua Recycles sure could use your help this Thursday!!! We had to wait an extra week to bring the Terlingua bins into the National Park's center as they were overflowing from Spring Break crowds. Ours were already overflowing for the same reason so all hands on deck would really be appreciated!!! Get to the recycling center behind Terlingua EMS before 8 a.m. as that's when we push off. You can bring your own car or ride with one of the other volunteers. We're typically back to Terlingua by 1 p.m.
Thanks to all for your efforts to keep the area clean and items sorted correctly. Just a friendly reminder that tin and aluminum go in separate bins and we don't yet have the capacity to recycle glass. Hopefully soon but not yet so please don't leave bottles and please don't leave the plastic bags that you bring your recyclable items in.
If you need more info, call 830.739.6986 or send a Facebook message to Terlingua Recycles.   Thanks for helping to keep Terlingua GREEN!

Cora is an all around wonderful dog. She is confident, well-adjusted, and is a terrific trainer with other dogs. We know because she is the best dog in play group -  where she corrects, encourages, plays, and enjoys everyone! Cora has excellent boundaries and the shelter appreciates her dog-savviness every day. Cora is very affectionate and is not high energy. She walks well on a leash, is housebroken, and is good with kids. She is three years old, and this is her second stint in the shelter - through no fault of her own. For more information about Cora or any of the wonderful animals in the Alpine shelter, please email heatherthemule@gmail.com

You many have heard of horrific fires in the Texas panhandle and Oklahoma several days ago.  Understandably, that set our load of trucks behind a few days.  Then, an urgent order for 30/1,600 gallon tanks got put in front of ours. That shipment is almost finished and ours should be next in line. Wylie trucks cover a huge territory from Chorpus to Amarillo, Waco, Oklahoma and Louisiana. The dispatcher assured me it won't be long now.  Please bare with us.  This has been the longest deliver time we have ever experienced.  Please call us in the next couple of days so we can get all our tanks delivered without a problem.  (432) 371-2506  Thanks, The Burrs.

EARTH AND FIRE GALLERY Story Painting.  Art Show at Earth and Fire Gallery in Terlingua, TX.  Artist - Lori Griffin.  Free and open to the Public. March 15-31.
Artist Lori Griffin is often asked is there a story for every art piece made.  Her reply is yes and that the inspiration is often quite personal.  One of her signatures is hidden images that await to be discovered.  "It is very meaningful when the viewer has an emotional reaction with the art."  Lori tries to push limits: either the topic, the medium itself, her experience, or the process. This creates challenge and does not allow her to become comfortable and this in turn helps create strong soulful art.  She is always willing to share the inspiration behind the piece to allow a connection with anyone who might be interested in collecting her art.  The art stories range from sacred to fairytales; often include both fact and fiction.  Want a private showing or have Questions - 432-301-9663.

Marley was adopted recently and though his adopter’s severe allergies made it an impossible match, we did get to learn how exemplary Marley is in a home! He is house trained, a wonderful leash walker, knows how to sit, doesn’t bark, has terrific house manners, loads up in the car, and will follow you all around the house. Marley is a little shy but absolutely friendly. Adoption fees include spay/neuter, all vaccines, and a microchip. Best of all, adopting from the shelter rescues a homeless pet from our community and provides them the family that they need! For more information about Marley or any pet in the Alpine shelter, email heatherthemule@gmail.com

Meet Bandit! Bandit was adopted from the Alpine Shelter in 2005 and has been living in Marfa. His owner died last year and neighbors were taking care of him in his backyard but thankfully now he is in the shelter so he can find a proper home. Bandit is male, at least 12 years old, and has always lived outside, but his forays into indoor living have been quite successful. Bandit gets exerted easily so he needs a low activity home. He’s ridiculously cute, is very friendly with people, likes both dogs and cats, has great leash skills, gets really excited about wet food, and doesn’t bark. Irresistible, right? For more information about Bandit or any animal in the Alpine Shelter, please email heatherthemule@gmail.com
