All Energies tip of the week: you can use a microwave oven off grid. A typical microwave oven draws about 900 watts and an average toaster draws about 1200 watts. Most off grid systems can handle a 2,000 watt or greater load.  The main advantage of a microwave is short cooking time which gives it a greater efficiency. A microwave operating for 15 minutes uses 360 wh while an equivalent toaster oven would take 50 minutes and use 950 wh of energy.   If you’ve got questions about solar or need help making your solar system work better, email casey@allenergies.net or call/text 432-242-1874 and call 371-2950  today.

All Energies Tip of the Week
Water heating represents 18% of the average home’s energy costs. Solar water heating gained in popularity in the 1970’s and the technology has not changed much since then. The downside is that these are complex plumbing systems and they need maintenance. More recently, water heating using solar electric panels has become a feasible option. It takes three times the square footage of collector space, but the maintenance costs are much lower and there’s no risk of freezing! If you’ve got questions about solar hot water, or need help making your solar system work better, email casey@allenergies.net or call/text 432-242-1874 today.
