Texas Independence Day Parade -Monday, March 2, 2020 @ 5:30 P.M.  Come celebrate the 184th anniversary of Texas Independence from Mexico with the annual impromptu parade between the Porch and the High Sierra, celebrating the sacrifices of those who won our freedom.  The parade is scheduled to begin around 5:30 P.M. (but is notoriously late) at the Porch.  The route will leave for the High Sierra, then turn around back to the Porch.  Gathering for the parade will be at any time necessary for the preparation of your "float" to make the 5:30 start.  Please try to attend with a float or just as a spectator.  Hope to see you there!
Big Bend National Park is Hiring Dispatchers.  The National Park Service is seeking applications from candidates interested in working permanently for Big Bend National Park as Public Safety Dispatchers.  The deadline to apply is February 18, 2020. To view the full news release, please visit https://www.nps.gov/bibe/learn/news/newsreleases.htm.
Public Notice – Regular meeting of the Brewster County Commissioners Court, Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at 9:30 AM.  Brewster County Courthouse, Commissioner’s Courtroom, 6th & Avenue E in Alpine.  The Brewster County Courthouse and offices will be closedon February 17, 2020, in observance of Presidents’ Day.
Brewster County Commissioner Sara Allen Colando will hold office hours every Monday from 8AM to 3PM at the South Brewster County Emergency Response Center (a/k/a Terlingua Fire & EMS headquarters). Please stop by with your questions and concerns. You can also call 371-3103 during office hours, or email colando@co.brewster.tx.us any time.
PLAY BALL! Come out Thursday for a pick up game of softball. Start time is at 4pm but come whenever you can. There will be gloves and bats for everyone. The fields are located by the Terlingua School.
Girl Scout Cookie Booth - We will be holding a Girl Scout cookie booth in Study Butte at the Alon gas station and diner from 9am-11am on Sunday, February 16th.
Terlingua WordOff  - A Big Bend Love Affair, Cinnabar Theater, Thursday, February 13.  Sign Up at 6 pm, Words at 7.  Your 5 minutes of fame.  
Brewster County Democratic Candidates Forum – Thursday, February 13, 6:30 pm, at the Alpine Independent School District Auditorium, 704 West Sul Ross Ave.  Brewster County Democrats will have only one office for which there are competing candidates:  Jerry Johnson and Johnny Milan are competing for the nomination for County Commissioner of Precinct 1.  All candidates who are running unopposed are also invited to attend and speak if they would like to do so.  Local Democratic candidates include: Roy Ferguson for District Judge 394th Judicial District, Steve Houston for County Attorney, Ronny Dodson for Sheriff, Sylvia Vega for County Tax Assessor-Collector, and Ruben Ortega for County Commissioner for Precinct 3.  John Waters, Publisher of the Big Bend Gazette has once again volunteered to be the moderator.
Farmers' Market - every Saturday from 10AM - 1PM at the Terlingua Community Garden in the Ghost Town. A great place to buy and sell fresh eggs, locally grown fruits & vegetables, unique art & handicrafts, and delicious baked goods. Shop LOCAL! Vendor fee is just $5 for anyone interested in selling. Shot Time Liquor - Open 10 -9 Monday thru Saturday.  Come visit us in Room 101.  We have new beers in stock!  Indio, ZiegenBock, and a lot more.  As if that wasn’t enough, we have expanded our wine department - a lot!!!  Beer, booze, and snacks all in one place.
Highland Ink Terlingua will be open as soon as all the health checks have been done and boxes ticked.  If anyone would like to go on a waiting list for tattoos call 432-219-5300.  Very excited. To celebrate we are throwing a little opening party Saturday the 15th of February at 7pm hope to see you there.
Canyon Brew at Far Flung Outdoor Center – ­­ ­­Stop by for your daily dose of caffeine.  Also try kolaches, toasted bagels, espresso, candy bar lattes, cappuccino, macchiato, and chai.  Don’t forget – bring your own mug and save a buck!  Opens at 7 a.m. daily with quick service! Terlingua American Legion Leap Year Party – Feb 29.   A spaghetti dinner will be served starting at 6pm.   Cost is $6 per person.  The Doodling Hogwallops will be starting at 8pm.  Thanks to volunteers, the Terlingua American Legion has changed hours again.  Monday to Saturday, open from Noon till at least 8pm.  Later if they got customers.
Music at the Bad Rabbit on Terlingua Ranch ­­ – Saturday, February 15-- Charlie and Judy play your favorite old country songs, Charlie on accordion, Judy on guitar.  They'll sing you some funny originals and put in a touch of yodeling.   Come dance, sing along, have fun!  6:30 to 8:30 PM.
Espresso ... y poco mas!  Come into the Ghost Town for the best breakfast and lunches in Terlingua.  All our items are cooked to order, we serve only Big Bend Roasters coffee (the best!) and have a great atmosphere including stunning views of the Chisos.  We have homemade pastries, eggs anyway you like 'em, salads, and sandwiches.  From 7:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. seven days a week, we offer free wifi, newspapers and friendly service.  See you this week!

Terlingua Recycles!  Current hours are Saturday, 10-12, also Wednesday, 4:00 to 5:30. Located behind the ball fields (look for the sign to turn before the fields)  Currently we can ONLY ACCEPT:

The Terlingua Bottoms Group of AA – meets every Thursday at 7:30 at the Big Bend Church in Study Butte.  The meetings are open to anyone who has or thinks they may have a drinking problem.

Earth and Fire Gallery – Save the date for our welcome Gallery Opening for Kathleen Griffith, Saturday, February 22nd about 6 PM till whenever, with great food, wine and surprises always!. Kathleen works in several mediums, including oil paintings, large mosaics and hand carved and painted tile work. Having recently taken pottery classes at Sul Ross, she also creates ceramic art pieces. Her mosaics are displayed as business and directional signage in Ruidosa, TX and Chinati Hot Springs. She created a large mosaic sugar skull that is displayed in the Downtown Alpine Artists Alley. Her pottery and paintings are exhibited at the Gallery on the Square in Alpine.
