Be aware of the Bear!
I'm the Wildlife Diversity Biologist for Texas Parks and Wildlife's Trans-Pecos District. In the past week the Brewster County Biologist and myself have been made aware of multiple bear observations in and around Terlingua Ranch. To date, we only have official interaction reports for two of these observations. If you have experienced a recent interaction with a Black Bear in the area please contact a TPWD biologist regarding your observation. It is our goal to adequately document the on-going situation and evaluate bear behavior in the area.
You can reach me with your observation reports at
krysta.demere@tpwd.texas.gov
Similar, you can follow Texas Parks and Wildlife - Trans-Pecos Wildlife District for local wildlife updates, including neighborhood black bear alerts and tips on living with black bears.
It is extremely important that everyone does their part to limit any food based attractants that may bring bears into close proximity of our local neighborhoods and homes.
