Contact chamberofcommerce@gmail.com for more information on position qualifications and job duties. A resume and brief cover letter will be required as part of the final application process. This position pays a minimum of $600 a month based on experience. Applicant must be a full-time Big Bend resident with good organizational office and phone skills as well as daily access to a computer and internet, own a smart phone, reliable transportation, and have basic working skills with Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Microsoft Office software or commensurate software (i.e. Word, Excel, Publisher, etc.) ALL ENERGIES TIP of the week: Geothermal cooling and heating uses about one third as much electricity as a traditional HVAC system. By tapping into the stable ground temperature just 4 to 500 feet below the surface, you’re able to utilize a constant 72°F temperature year-round. The temperature available below ground is approximately equivalent to the average year round temperature in a given region. With a heat pump and a pre-calculated amount of pipe, the payback period for a new system is between 3 and 10 years. Given the extreme high summer temperatures and high electrical rates in Far West Texas, that payback could be much sooner. If you are interested in geothermal or need help making your solar system work better, email casey@allenergies.net or call/text 432-242-1874 THERE ARE JOB OPPORTUNITIES with the 2020 Census. You can help support your community while earning good pay, with flexible hours and paid training. To find out more please visit 2020census.gov/jobs or you can call 855-562-2020. You can also contact Peggy O’Brien or Annette Gutierrez by email at peggyo@riocog.org or annetteg@riocog.org. EARTH AND FIRE GALLERY welcomes our latest Guest Artist, Kathleen Griffith. Kathleen works in several mediums, including oil paintings, large mosaics and hand carved and painted tile work. Having recently taken pottery classes at Sul Ross, she also creates ceramic art pieces. Her mosaics are displayed as business and directional signage in Ruidosa, TX and Chinati Hot Springs. She created a large mosaic sugar skull that is displayed in the Downtown Alpine Artists Alley. Her pottery and paintings are exhibited at the Gallery on the Square in Alpine.

STAR IS A 3 YEAR OLD BLACK LAB mix who wants nothing more than to hang out around the house and enjoy a simple life with her people. Star is a quiet, house trained, stick-around girl who was a former ranch dog and as such, is a bit under-confident as she learns how to be a proper pet. She is embracing life indoors, takes treats very sweetly, is content to be left alone, and in many ways is as easy as they come! Star will happily live with cats and loves to hike. Star is being fostered in the Terlingua area and is days away from being fully vetted. For more information about Star, or another homeless pet in need of a home, email: heatherthemule@gmail.com

TERLINGUA MOON
by Terlingua Thinking Team!!!
January 28, 2020

“I have self-doubt. I have insecurity. I have fear of failure. I have nights when I show up at the arena and I'm like, 'My back hurts, my feet hurt, my knees hurt. I don't have it. I just want to chill.' We all have self-doubt. You don't deny it, but you also don't capitulate to it. You embrace it."  – Kobe Bryant

ALL ENERGIES
Tip of the week: A commonly overlooked part of off grid homes is good household wiring. There have been a number of times a solar installation is completed and power is turned on, only to find that the home’s wiring has a dangerous short. Make sure your wiring is up to the National Electric Code! This website is full of useful info: [forums.mikeholt.com]. When in doubt, get a licensed electrician with good references! We recommend The Town Electrician, Charles Turvey (Owner/ Master Electrician) TECL# 31504. Check out his weekly ad in the Moon for more information. If you need help making your solar system work better, email casey@allenergies.net or call/text 432-242-1874   Thanks, Casey!

EARTH AND FIRE ART GALLERY
Guest Artist, Milwaukee-based artist Mark Wojno explores ideas and emotions of “stark beauty” through oil paintings of the Chihuahuan desert and industrial landscapes of Milwaukee and Chicago. Originally trained as a cultural anthropologist, this
mostly self-taught artist has always been sensitive to visual elements of different cultures. Spending his time between Terlingua and Milwaukee, he depicts vast spaces and light punctuated by simple but dramatic built and natural forms, evoking a
sense of solitude and silence. This pattern is especially evident in his representational landscapes of the Big Bend.

All Energies tip of the week: A commonly overlooked part of off grid homes is good household wiring. If you need help making your solar system work better, email casey@allenergies.net or call/text 432-242-1874

Earth and Fire Gallery Our welcoming reception for our new Guest Artist, Milwaukee-based artist Mark Wojno will be Saturday the 18th at 6 pm.  Do stop by for food, drinks and possibly a fire!  Mark explores ideas and emotions of “stark beauty” through oil paintings of the Chihuahuan desert and industrial landscapes of Milwaukee and Chicago. Originally trained as a cultural anthropologist, this mostly self-taught artist has always been sensitive to visual elements of different cultures. Spending his time between Terlingua and Milwaukee, he depicts vast spaces and light punctuated by simple but dramatic built and natural forms, evoking a sense of solitude and silence. This pattern is especially evident in his representational landscapes of the Big Bend.
