BIG BEND NATIONAL PARK – TEMPORARY CLOSURES FOR HERBICIDE APPLICATIONS
From March 3 to March 5, a team will be cutting down and applying herbicide to invasive salt cedars (Tamarix spp.) in the Hot Springs Canyon area. During this time, visitors may encounter a temporary closure along the river from Gravel Pit to Daniels Ranch. Terlingua Ghostown Church: Santa Inez & Sts. Mary and Joseph's: Lajitas & Otra Vez Thrift Shop Father Mike Wallens and Rev. Katie will be celebrating Holy Eucharist on Wednesday, March 8th, at 5:30pm. All are welcome. Also, A gentle reminder that Church services have resumed at the Lajitas Chapel. Services are now held weekly on Saturday at 5:00 pm led by The Rev. Michael Wallens, alternating weekends with The Rev. Katie Hudak. Thank you, Tim Callahan and Robert Krull, for your time and talents in volunteering to complete the up-grade on the front steps to the Thrift Shop.
A weekly Bible Study has been added on Wednesday at 3:30 pm, beginning this week on March 8, 2023, with the notice included on the updated flyer. All are welcome to attend.
Alter Ego Free Box Fashion Show at the Boathouse, Saturday April 1st, starting at 6 pm. Walk the runway with your most fab thrift store find. Proceeds to fund Voices From Both Sides, which is scheduled for May 13th at the historic river crossing in Lajitas.

Calling all vendors, musicians, artists and volunteers! We truly hope our entire community comes together for this one! This is a fundraiser for Medic Outpost, a 501(c)3, out of Terlingua. Medic Outpost is a nonprofit that develops community healthcare in rural areas. Help us help our community and others! Food, music, vendors and fun! Will announce main contacts soon for Music, Vendors, Medical Outreach, and Volunteers.

Due to circumstances beyond our control, the Museum of the Big Bend has made the difficult decision to postpone the Grand Opening of the new Emmett and Miriam McCoy Building. More information about the exact date is forthcoming.
If you have purchased tickets for the Friday, March 10 Grand Opening Reception, they will be honored for the rescheduled date. If you cannot attend at that time, we are happy to provide a refund in full.

Earthen Vaults - April 10th-11th and 15th-16th - $150
Participants will receive an introduction to soil testing and compressed earth block while studying earthen roofs, arches, vaults, and domes and participating in the construction of a 14-foot span barrel vault roof. You’re Invited for Art and BBQ!

Visit the Community Market at the Community Garden in the Ghost Town this Saturday. We open at 10:00 AM, acoustic music starts at 11:00ish.Vendors are offering a range of local goods,such as micro greens, the work of local artists, including framed art and wearable textile art. There are hand sewn items, hand crafted soaps, lip balms and more. And, of course, there's also Sandy's pop up shop, Manny's great food and Valery's sweet treats to enjoy. We've been getting new vendors in with the warmer weather. Contact us via the Community Garden Facebook page or stop down and chat if you'd like to become a vendor.

Get your Green on, March 17th it is Parade Day for St. Patrick's Day, bringing back the parade in honor of Jimmy Holbrook. Line up at the Boathouse at 3:30, go to Starlight parking lot, back down to DB's circle back to the Boathouse for cocktails and fun in the sun with friends. Let's do this. Yes, it will be crazy with spring break, but fun will be had by all.
A fun day for all the children, bring your baskets for the Easter Egg Hunt held April 8th at 10:00. Parents can enjoy the Community Farmers Market, for the children, there will be face painting, hunting easter eggs, and coloring eggs. Stay tuned for more fun.
The Terlingua Bottoms Group of AA meets every Thursday at 7:30 at the Big Bend Church in Study Butte. The meetings are open to anyone who has or thinks they may have a drinking problem.
The Terlingua Double A Bar Group will hold an AA meetings on Tuesdays from 5:00 pm to 6 pm at the Crisis Center in the Ghost Town.

Wylie Water Tanks -- our order for rainwater catchment tanks has been split into two deliveries. The first delivery will arrive within a week, and the second delivery will arrive before the end of the month. To fill up the second trailer, we added a few extra tanks that are not spoken for!
