FUNDRAISER AT HIGH SIERRA TODAY
Today is the BIG Day!!!!! 4:00 p.m.!! Please come to the High Sierra Bar and Grill and help us raise funds for Medic Outpost to buy community defibrillators and provide training to the community volunteers! We have a different band playing every hour starting at 4 with Butch and Rory Hancock, 5 - Hank Woji, 6 - Wayward Gypsies, 7- The Moonshiners, 8 - Terry Houghton.  Lots of vendors, food, drinks, a silent auction and a raffle with AWESOME items! Sneak preview of some of the items: Golf packages, jeep tours, horseback riding, river day trips, Airbnb stays, tons of handmade and hand painted items, a barrel of tequila (yes you read that right), massage and acupuncture gift certificates…and SO much more! It’s going to be a super fun event! We hope the whole community shows up for this one!

GO PUROBOTS and PAISANOS!
Only a few days left to buy your limited edition 2023 Purobots T-Shirt! The Terlingua robotics students designed a T-shirt for their fundraiser/fire recovery. So far we have sold 46 t-shirts towards our goal of 100. Please share and thanks for all the support!
https://www.customink.com/fundraising/terlinguarobotics

The Paisanos would like to thank our community for the truly inspiring and heartwarming support we received after the fire. The fire marshal concluded that the cause of the fire was undetermined, and there was no evidence that it was malicious or started intentionally. We would also like to again thank TFEMS, BBNP, and BCSO for the tremendous job they did in putting out the fire. Brewster County Roads and Bridges have generously given their time in assisting with the clean up. The district is currently working with our insurance, and the building will be replaced. The school is in the process of ordering all students' instruments that were lost in the fire with the donations that we have received. In the meantime, Mr. Anthenat and the band continue to practice getting ready for Fiesta and graduation. Many students are learning new instruments that have been donated while they await their replacements. The Purobots have qualified for the State UIL Robotics competition that will be held this Friday, 3/24/23 in Belton. Our kids had a plan in place to continue by 9:00 AM the day after the fire. The students were helped by their district competitors in El Paso as well as the UTEP engineering department prior to their regional competition on 2/25/23. Despite the challenges, this is the first group from TCSD to qualify for the State competition, and we couldn't be prouder. When their season is over, they will begin the process of ordering the parts and tools that were lost. Thank you for all of your support and rallying around the kids when we most needed it.

The UIL District 9 Academic Competition will be held at Fort Davis HS on March 24th. Sixteen high school students are representing our school in various competitions including: Spelling & Vocabulary, Science, Social Studies, Current Issues & Events, Computer Science, Mathematics, Number Sense, and Calculator Applications. Good luck, Paisanos!

Don't miss the opportunity to apply for an RGEC Scholarship. Vocational and trade school students are eligible, too! Visit www.riogrande.coop/community/scholarships/ to apply.

Free Workshop-Limited space!
The Chinati Foundation invites area adults to a free, two-day workshop exploring landscape drawing and painting en plein air from 9am-3pmSaturday, March 25-26 at the museum. Led by artist Kb Jones and assisted by Chinati's education team, the workshop will consist of instruction in drawing and painting fundamentals, observational walks, and an opportunity to experiment with mixed media techniques. Drawing horses will be set up at selected spots along Chinati's grounds, allowing attendees to enjoy a prolonged engagement with the Chihuahuan Desert environs.  Beginner artists are welcome and urged to participate! Kb Jones is a former Chinati artist in residence whose figurative paintings investigate the relationship among mind, body, and landscape. Based in New York, Jones has worked extensively in the Permian Basin and the American Southwest. Jones contributed to Chinati Weekend 2020's online content with a drawing lesson and discussion based on the museum's collection of John Wesley's work. To view, go to https://chinati.org/chinati-weekend-2020/cw2020-collection-tours/tour05/
Participants should wear closed toed shoes and can expect a fair amount of walking throughout the workshop. Light snacks and water will be provided; attendees will have an hour each day for a bring-your-own lunch. Enrollment in this free workshop is limited. To sign up, please email education@chinati.org, with subject line: Kb Jones Workshop or call 432 729 4362 ext. 224
