Our goal is $2,000 to expand the current rain catchment system on the Starlight roof

The 12,000-gallon catchment behind The Starlight was paid for with funds from The 2014 Green Scene.

We have not been able to do farmer's markets or fundraising for 2 years.

We realize that Terlingua has had severe drought conditions for the last 2 years.  We are trying to raise money to finish guttering the entire roof so we can collect every valuable drop.

We want to continue to GROW!!!

Come out on Saturday and Celebrate 15 years of Community GARDEN

Big Buddha Bakery / Climate Summit:

This week, for Earth Day, we are going to be offering food at the climate summit at the Presidio Activity Center on April 22nd at 6pm featuring speakers from around Texas on issues related to the climate. It is being put on by an amazing group of high school students from Presidio that have a non-profit called Project Homeleaf.

Big Buddha Bakery is a new cafe/bakery in Presidio! We bake all our bread in house fresh with sourdough and organic ingredients. So far, our fan favorites are pizza, burgers, breakfast sandwiches on homemade bagels, cold brew, donuts and croissants. If you are looking for something to take on a hike, our sourdough loaves are a great option. Open Thursdays, Friday and Sundays 11am-5pm. Located on the main road on your way into Presidio from Terlingua across from the fire station.

Chinati Teahouse: Built in Spring 2021, the teahouse is an outdoor Japanese inspired space for meditation and tea ceremony in the vastness of the desert north of Presidio.  The word 'Chinati' was chosen because of the view of the mountains, its meaning 'mountain gate' and because I serve mainly Chinese tea.  This form of tea ceremony is originally a Chinese tradition focused on deepening our connection to nature, ourselves, and each other. The ceremony focuses on drinking one tea through many steepings, exploring how the tea opens up over many steepings, and in the process brings us deeper in touch with ourselves and our surroundings.

A little about me:

My interest in tea sprung from my interest in Zen and martial arts. I have served tea in NYC, Egypt, Lebanon, have lived and practiced in Zen monasteries and aikido dojos in the US and Japan.  My wife and I live in Presidio and run Big Buddha Bakery.

**If you are interested in learning more or booking a ceremony, please reach out at chinatiteahouse@gmail.com
