Tivo's Place Closed for Summer

Tivo's Place is going to be closing his doors for the summer. Only Tivo's Place, not the motel. Thank you very much to the locals for your business. Maybe soon I’ll see you in Study Butte or Terlingua in October. God Bless you and I love you all!

Study Butte WSC Addresses Fliers

An anonymous flier was recently posted, urging members to send letters to the SBWSC Board of Directors asking them to stop awarding commercial water meters.

I am asking you to ignore any such request. The SBWSC is NOT a planning organization. Our mandate is to provide the residents of Terlingua/ Study Butte with good quality drinking water. END OF STORY

We have been funded by various government loans and grants which have enabled us to provide an outstanding water service in the most unlikely of places. We have been successful. However, restricting access would be illegal and violate the terms of our various grants and loans. Without these various grants and loans the already high cost of the SBWSC water would rise considerably. Possibly as much as double.

The water is from the Santa Elena aquifer and our wells are over 1000 feet deep. The water, as pumped from the ground, does NOT meet the requirements of the TCEQ and as such, needs treatment. SBWSC has one of the most sophisticated water treatment plants in the United States and because of this we are able to supply water of OUTSTANDING quality. We have backup generators to keep water flowing even after extended outages. This all costs money for which we are dependent upon government grants and loans.

We have meetings of the Board of Directors every month. These meetings are open to the public and if you have concerns, that is the place to voice them.

If you don't approve of the decisions of the Board of Directors you, the members, can replace them at our Annual General Meetings. You are all invited but only members can vote.

If you want to slow down commercial development then Incorporate Terlingua/Study Butte, form a council and planning department, elect representatives and then start imposing restrictions on the community. In the meantime leave us out of your political squabbles. We have a job to do and it does not include imposing arbitrary rules on who can or can not receive water.

Thank you.

John Holroyd,

President and Chairman of the Board SBWSC
