New
Businesses in Presidio: “I have recently built a teahouse near Presidio and
would like to share tea ceremonies with your community there in Terlingua.
Chinati Teahouse: Built in Spring 2021, the teahouse is an
outdoor Japanese inspired space for meditation and tea ceremony in the vastness
of the desert north of Presidio. The word 'Chinati' was chosen because of the view of the
mountains, its meaning 'mountain gate' and because I serve mainly Chinese tea. This
form of tea ceremony is originally a Chinese tradition focused on deepening our
connection to nature, ourselves and each other. The ceremony focuses on
drinking one tea through many steepings exploring how the tea opens up over
many steepings and in the process brings us deeper in touch with ourselves and
our surroundings.
A little about me: My interest in tea sprung from my interest in
Zen and martial arts. I have served tea in NYC, Egypt, Lebanon, have lived and
practiced in Zen monasteries and aikido dojos in the US and Japan. My wife and
I live in Presidio and run Big Buddha Bakery. If you are interested in learning
more or booking a ceremony, please reach out at chinatiteahouse@gmail.com
Big Buddha Bakery: New Cafe/Bakery in Presidio! We bake all our bread
in house fresh with sourdough and organic ingredients. So far, our fan
favorites are pizza, burgers, breakfast sandwich on homemade bagels, cold brew,
donuts and croissants. If you are looking for something to take on a hike, our
sourdough loaves and baguettes are a great option. Open Thursdays, Friday and Sundays
11am-5pm. Located on the main road on your way into Presidio from Terlingua
across from the fire station.

Butte. We wear masks during the meeting, and observe distancing. The

And now..for something totally different, a poem:
"Doggone Country Blues"
I bought me a brand-new truck.
I drove it around all day.
But when I got it home last night,
It drove itself away.
It had a brand new feature,
It drove well without me.
But it just whistled for my dawg
And off they went so free.
I miss my dawg, I miss that truck.
I put posters by the street.
But there's been no sign of dawg or truck,
Or even my girlfriend sweet.
There's tales of a truck on the highway
With nary a man inside.
But a dog at the window and a girl in the back
Just goin' for a ride.
(BOLO!)
