We Need Volunteers!
Magdalena House Clean-Up, Castolon Historic District
A wildfire on May 22, 2019, left damaged and destroyed historic buildings. Our awesome fire crews around the region helped prevent loss to other historic buildings such as the Magdalena house. The Magdalena house needs a post-fire cleanup in preparation for new exhibit installation. Volunteers will help wash and clean walls and windows, and repair porch screening. Work will start at 8:00 am in the Castolon Historic District on September 14, 2019. The park will provide tools, work gloves, water, and snacks. Please RSVP via email by September 4, 2019, to Taylor Jurado at christine_jurado@nps.gov.

Tip of the Week!
All Energies’ tip of the week: Running your off grid solar system at the optimal voltage can save you money on wire and equipment! Most off grid solar systems are set up for 12, 24, or 48 Volts. If your solar array is small (about 1000 Watts or less) a 12V system is probably the best and least expensive option. Larger arrays are usually better suited to a 48V system. Why? Because Voltage and Current (measured in Amps) have an inverse relationship (Ohm’s Law); and because high amperage requires bigger wire sizes, as well as more (or bigger) charge controllers. To lower the number of Amps flowing through the system, you can set up your batteries and equipment for a higher voltage. This will allow you to use smaller wire and fewer charge controllers (or a charge controller with a lower Amp rating). If you need help making your solar system work better, email casey@allenergies.net or call/text 432-242-1874.

A Call for Your Help
The Brewster County Sheriff’s Office is seeking your help to curtail financial scams.  There has been an increase in telephone scams targeting elderly individuals, requesting payment to government entities, using gift cards.  REMEMBER, NO GOVERNMENT ENTITY WILL ACCEPT PAYMENT BY GIFT CARD.
Periodically, we post warnings, through social media, about scams, but people continue to be victimized by these criminals.  So, we need your help. Please spread the word to family members, friends, and neighbors, to contact us BEFORE purchasing gift cards, money orders, etc. that are being purchased under suspicious circumstances.
Please help us educate the community (remember, not everyone uses social media) so that we may better serve our citizens.  Thank you!
