MILKY WAY TREATS
Ice cream trailer is on vacation y’all! We all need a break sometimes. But
we will reopen Saturday, June 27.
Our 3 Years Here party/Pie Off was amazing! We had six delicious pies
entered, each one so yummy, it was tough choosing a winner. But we did: 1st
Best Pie, Savory Meat Pies by Karen Allen McInerney. 2nd place Best Pie,

12 - PARTY FOR THE PARK
Let’s celebrate Big Bend National Park’s 82nd birthday this June.
Join us for a parade & party for our beloved park. This will be an
opportunity to leave our wall worries in the dust for a day to share food,
drinks, live music, and fun!
PARADE:
The parade will start at 5:30 PM and run from Desert Sports to the Terlingua
Porch. If you’re interested in being a part of the parade, contact Celina at
210-355-2653. We have a limited number of spots available for floats!
PARTY:
When: June 12, 2026 6:00pm (parade leaves Desert Sports at
5:30pm)

Terlingua Ghost Town Porch
What:
A Mighty Little Parade! Face painting! Best Dressed Contest! Alluring Prizes!
Delicious Food! Addictive Cake! Live Music! A Star Party! And afterward, a DJ
dance party to finish us all off!
-- We will have brief welcome remarks,
followed by live music, food & drinks, and more!
-- Around 9 PM, there will be a mini-Star Party (in the parking lot).
-- After party with DJ at the Starlight Theater from 10-12 PM following the
event.
PRIZES:
Best Dressed! You know we Terlinguans love a good costume party. Dress
in a Big Bend-inspired outfit. We will have prizes for the top 3 crowd
favorites!
Best Float! We will have a Grand Prize for the favorite float! The theme
is to showcase your love for Big Bend - contact Celina with any questions

Terlingua remains OPEN and will continue serving the
community during our normal business hours, Monday through Friday from 10:00
AM to 2:00 PM.
The only exception will be this Thursday, when the clinic will be closed due
to staffing coverage
We want to take a moment to share our
deepest appreciation for Ashley and everything she has meant to Bravo Health
Terlingua. 💖
From the very beginning, Ashley has
been the heart of this clinic. She helped bring it to life, welcomed patients
with kindness, and served the Terlingua community with compassion, dedication,
and genuine care. Her work here has mattered deeply, and we know many patients
and neighbors have felt the impact of who she is and how faithfully she has
shown up for this community. We are deeply grateful for everything Ashley has
done for Bravo Health Terlingua and wish her nothing but happiness and success
in her next chapter.
During this transition, we are
grateful to have support from our Bravo Health Presidio team. A big thank you
to Christina and Mayra, who are driving to Terlingua to help provide coverage
and continue serving the community. Together, they bring more than 30 years of
experience caring for patients, and both are exceptional, bilingual
clinicians.
We are grateful for their willingness
to step in and provide compassionate care while we work to find a dedicated
Terlingua team member.

KEEP BIG BEND WILD
It has not been widely publicized, but apparently there is an opportunity to
comment on CBP’s plans for Big Bend National Park, and it’s critical that as
many of us do so as possible. Comments are due June 18. There’s a lot of

Terrell County Sheriff Cleveland posted what he knows on
Facebook June 5th, writing “From Big Bend Ranch State Park through Big Bend
National Park and eastward to Black Gap, the proposed infrastructure will
consist primarily of technology-based surveillance systems and patrol roads. No
bollard barrier is planned within this section. However, a limited number of
vehicle barriers may be installed at specific locations. Additionally, CBP has
indicated that road paving will occur only on roads that are already paved; no
new road paving is planned in previously unpaved areas.”
This is plausible. But no new paving does not
mean no new roads.
According to the storymap web site, it still appears that
CBP intends to build a new 24 foot-wide patrol road in the national park along
the Rio from Lajitas, just north of the Mesa de Anguila, to the mouth of Santa
Elena Canyon; then from Castolon along the river, over Mariscal Mountain, over
Ernst Ridge above the Hot Springs all the way to Rio Grande Village,
where it would run through the campground and extend to the upper
end of Boquillas Canyon. They also say they’ll bury a fiber optic
cable along its entire length as well as a power line so they can use grid
power for their technology. That’s the very reliable grid power we
all know so well, right?
For the 0.045% of all nationwide border apprehensions that
occur in BBNP, we need to destroy this truly wild part of the national park,
much of which is officially-recommended wilderness? (See the stats
here: https://keepbigbendwild.org/big-bend-border-statistics)The
existing River Road and paved roads, in some cases within a stone’s throw of
the proposed road, in other cases at most a few miles north, can’t be augmented
with technology to serve the same purpose? So much for CBP Commissioner Scott’s
assertion, in the statement to Congress we noted last week, that
“[b]order security measures In the Big Bend National Park … will be adapted for
the terrain … with a limited number of low-profile vehicle barriers and patrol
roads strategically placed to leverage the landscape that serves as a natural
deterrent.”
We have gotten them to back away from a wall, and from
lighting. We can and will defeat this absurd plan, too. Keep
fighting! KBBW will summarize our comments and provide talking
points in this space in next week’s Moon.

Hello beautiful people of West Texas,
My name is Jenny Steward. I am a second year at UNT Health
Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine(TCOM). I am one of three mission trip
coordinators for the Texas Rural Health Association (TRHA). My counterparts are
Monica Williamson and Seth Bailey who are also second years here at TCOM.
We are excited to have the opportunity this summer to serve
your communities. We are coming down to bring FREE health clinics to your
areas! We will be in West Texas from June 27th-July 1st.
I have attached the flyer for the days that we are hoping to
be at your specific site. Please tell everyone! We are ready to work and to
serve as many people as we can!
We know the fall sports season is coming up, so we are
providing UIL sports physicals as well, and they are FREE! Please tell parents
and coaches! Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns. Also,
please let us know if you are needing anything. We are so excited to serve you
all.
The medical team will be at the Terlingua high school on
Monday, June 29 from 10 am - 6pm. They will do full physicals, diabetes,
hypertension, sports physicals. Sonagrams PT OT evals and recommendations and
more. Everything is free. Open to everybody and all ages. You just need to come
to the high school and sign up that day.
We will be putting up fliers soon. This is Anna Marie Posey
and we will be providing food for lunch and supper for the group. I'm asking
anyone in the community who would like to show their appreciation for the over
40 coming to help our and other communities. Anyone who is willing to donate
food and/or donate their time to come help us in set up, prepping food,
serving, cleaning up in the kitchen at the high school. I would certainly
appreciate all the help. you can contact me at 432 231 3833 to let me know if
you're wanting to volunteer in providing food or in helping us in the kitchen
in preparing and having the food ready for them. Last year they actually stayed
until eleven o'clock pm to see the last person. This year they will be starting
early at 10 AM till 6 PM
We'll be
putting up fliers with more details, and we'll also provide more information
in each terlingua moon up until the date they come. We look forward to

Yes - right on through the summer! Located in the Ghost Town, down in the
Community Garden, in the shade, we're here every Saturday with happy vendors
offering an array of locally produced goods and other items.
Local art, handcrafted textile goods, fresh eggs, sour dough
bread, jelly, pickles, all natural lip balms and skin care products, all
natural essential oil fragrances, beard oil and massage oils, handcrafted,
creative jewelry, resin creations, practical and artistic items made of
reclaimed steel and more -- you never know just what or who you'll find
here.
Flea market items are also welcome. After all, reusing and
up-cycling already existing items is smart and green. We ask a $10 donation to
the Community Garden to set up, helping us to continue to improve this space
and experience for all of us.
We welcome new vendors. To make it easy for new vendors to
try our market and to show our appreciation to our regular vendors, we waive
set-up fees on the first Saturday of the month, offering free set-up on that
day.
