Come see us at the Saturday Community Market from 10:00-1:00.  Located at the Community Garden in the Ghost Town, we're there every Saturday with happy vendors offering an array of locally produced goods and other items. We expect a new vendor this week with fresh eggs and a few baby goats they hope to socialize with petting from market visitors.

Local art, handcrafted textile goods, goat milk soap, all natural lip balms and skin care products, essential oil perfumes, Zoey's leather goods, handcrafted, creative jewelry, including Kim's, many made with local stones, block printed textiles and vintage goods, both curated and upcycled, practical and artistic items made of reclaimed steel, Sandy's super cute pop-up shop and more -- you never know just what or who you'll find here. Indeed, lately, chess players have been meeting up for a game or two or three or...

We welcome new vendors. Flea market items are also welcome. After all, reusing and up-cycling already existing items is smart and green. We ask a $10 donation to the Community Garden to set up, helping us to continue to improve this space and experience for all of us. For more information, text or call 432.213.1863, email SherriTheWriter@aol.com or pop in to the market for a chat. Prepared food vendors must display current food handling licence. (A quick, easy and affordable online course can provide that).

Please help keep our market space safe and comfortable for all, two-legged and four, by keeping all dogs leashed and under control. We look forward to seeing you there.

The School of Constructive Arts

is hosting two workshops in early March on our campus on the Terlingua Ranch. The workshops are our most comprehensive to date, condensing the regenerative design curriculum from our month long Student Volunteer Residency into a 7 day intensive course covering sustainable off-grid systems and earthen construction. Presentations will cover natural and recycled materials, off-grid waste management, catchment, greywater, landscape integration and restoration, and a range of ancient and modern approaches to heating and cooling with natural energy. In parallel to this broad curriculum students will get a hands-on crash-course in compressed earth block construction. We are currently building a 600 SF library and classroom for our campus. This small building provides a perfect opportunity for students to experience the many aspects of earth block construction from the ground up, including soil testing, and mix design, compressed earth block machinery and production, rubble-trench foundations and grade beams, earthen mortars, laying CEB masonry, arches and openings, forming bond beams, and plaster.

The workshop is broken into two parts:

March 1st - 3rd will focus on earth building broadly, soil analysis, and making earth blocks

March 5th - 9th will focus on building with CEB

Take your education off-line and off-grid. Learn the ancient art and cutting edge science of building with the earth. Discounts available for locals.
