KEEP BIG BEND WILD!
Keep Big Bend Wild is now all-in fighting the border wall in the national park and surrounding area. We’re doing a lot of media interviews, networking nationally and locally, and encouraging, through private conversations, political leaders across the spectrum to speak out publicly. Many of you are doing the same and we’re grateful to be part of a groundswell of unity in the community.
Look for an article and full length podcast at National Parks Traveler that was posted Sunday (3/1/26), as well as an article in Texas Monthly (https://www.texasmonthly.com/news-politics/inside-trump-big-bend-border-wall-plans/ ) and an op ed to come out very soon in the Houston Chronicle.
We are behind in updating our website because we are small and, like the rest of you, overwhelmed right now. But that’s coming soon.
We’re also going to be doing a peaceful “First Amendment” tabling event in front of the Panther Junction Visitor Center (yes, we have a permit) on March 20-21. While we’re hoping to see as many spring break park visitors as we can from outside the area, come see us, and sign up then (or sooner!) to support Keep Big Bend Wild. It’s not a protest, as the NPS is not the problem here. They just can’t say anything because they’ve been muzzled.
If a wall is built in the park, it would be the greatest assault on the integrity of any national park since a dam was built in Yosemite more than a century ago. As I wrote in the op-ed for the Chronicle, stopping the wall cannot be the end of our work. We need to ensure the still-undeveloped portions of this extraordinary landscape are protected for future generations.
Please learn more at keepbigbendwild.org, and consider supporting Keep Big Bend Wild. There's no more important time. Donations are welcome (we're financially sponsored by the El Paso Community Foundation, a 501c3), but we need you to allow us to list you as a supporter even more. Local business supporters are especially appreciated. See who's already supporting KBBW at https://keepbigbendwild.org/our-supporters/, although we’re having trouble keeping up the fast-growing list up-to-date. If you want to help further, reach out at info@keepbigbendwild.org.

FREE SET-UP MARCH 7 AT THE SATURDAY COMMUNITY MARKET
The first Saturday of March fast approaches and that means free set up day on March 7 at the Saturday Community Market, open from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Located at the Community Garden in the Ghost Town, we're here every Saturday with happy vendors offering an array of locally produced goods and other items. You'll also be able to enjoy our fabulous local mobile library and portable free ‘porch’, even consult with Dr. Gigabyte if you have a computer problem.
Local art, handcrafted textile goods, fresh eggs, sour dough bread, all natural lip balms and skin care products, all natural essential oil fragrances, beard oil and massage oils, handcrafted, creative jewelry, resin creations, block printed textiles and vintage goods, both curated and upcycled, practical and artistic items made of reclaimed steel and more -- you never know just what or who you'll find here.
Flea market items are also welcome. After all, reusing and up-cycling already existing items is smart and green. We ask a $10 donation to the Community Garden to set up, helping us to continue to improve this space and experience for all of us.
We welcome new vendors. To make it easy for new vendors to try our market and to show our appreciation to our regular vendors, we waive set-up fees on the first Saturday of the month, offering free set-up on that day.
VOICES FROM BOTH SIDES would like to thank the Terlingua Community and extended friends.
Our 2026 auctions and donations raised 7K and support is still coming for the annual Fiesta.
T Shirts will soon be available around town!
Shout out to The Temple of the Bird. Many Thanks.
