ALPINE FIRE FUNDRAISER THIS WEDNESDAY
At Javelina’s on Holland Gift Shop, 202 W Holland Ave, Alpine. (432) 837-4202
If you are like me all you can think about today is "What can I do to help those that lost everything in the fire in Alpine last night?"
Here's what we are doing. Please join us! Since we had an event planned on Wednesday night already, things are in motion so we are going to use that opportunity to raise money for a fund (we are working to identify what that looks like) that can get funds quickly to those who need it since we know insurance, if it exists, can be a long process.
So here's what we we have planned already. This is long but please stick with me and share it to your personal page if you can so as many people as possible can see it.
We will have activity here at the store from 5 to 9 on Wednesday, 5/29 with live music, food, drinks and hopefully other family friendly fun. We are asking for a donation at the door, but it is all technically free.
MUSIC
The Swifts and the Latecomers have generously donated their time to play at no charge. We'd love to have some other members of the music community step as well so that we can have the full 4 hours covered with local talent. If you are interested in donating your talents to help the cause please reach out to us by the end of the day today.
WINE AND BEER
We will have wine and beer for free since we are not TABC licensed but we will be accepting donations. We have purchased some but if any of the purveyors out there want to donate bottles/cans to help we'd love to hear from you today.
FOOD
We had some snacks for the event we had planned already which we will have but again, if anyone out there wants to donate some food, we'd love to have it and think it would increase donations. The Wasserman's have generously offered to try to bring Carl the Camel! If you want to come bring your particular talent/thing (face painting, hair braiding, balloon animal making... anything family friendly at all) we ask that you agree to either accept donations only or donate at least 50% of your sales to the benefit.
A MESSAGE FROM JAN, GALLERY ON THE SQUARE, ALPINE
A fire that began somewhere in the rear of Judy's Bread and Breakfast spread to the entire building, destroying our beloved Gallery on the Square and all of its contents. It also consumed Judy's B & B, Eva's Salon and Snazzy Things. There is just a skeleton left of Bill Ivey's building there now. I am still in shock at the speed at which things change and realize that we are so fortunate that no lives were lost in this tragedy. My prayers are with those who lost their artwork and also for those who lost their livelihood in this fire.
Our gratitude goes to all the firefighters and community who went to fight this fire and to help those who worked the fire. In a bit, we will regroup and find out where we go from here.
Stay tuned. Thanks! Jan

TERLINGUA COMMUNITY GARDEN
Come see us at the Saturday Community Market from 10:00-1:00. Yes, we're gonna be here all summer, just like we were last year. It was fun, so we're looking forward to doing it all again this summer. Located at the Community Garden in the Ghost Town, we're here every Saturday with happy vendors offering an array of locally produced goods and other items.
Fresh eggs, local art, handcrafted textile goods, goat milk soap, all natural lip balms and skin care products, essential oil perfumes, leather goods, handcrafted, creative jewelry, block printed textiles and vintage goods, both curated and upcycled, practical and artistic items made of reclaimed steel and more -- you never know just what or who you'll find here. Indeed, lately, chess players have been meeting up for a game or two or three or...
We welcome new vendors. Flea market items are also welcome. After all, reusing and up-cycling already existing items is smart and green. We ask a $10 donation to the Community Garden to set up, helping us to continue to improve this space and experience for all of us. For more information, text or call 432.213.1863, email SherriTheWriter@aol.com or pop in to the market for a chat. Prepared food vendors must display current food handling licence. (A quick, easy and affordable online course can provide that).
Please help keep our market space safe and comfortable for all, two-legged and four, by keeping all dogs leashed and under control. We look forward to seeing you there.

PLANETARY PARADE COMING
There's been a lot of astrologic and celestial events that have happened in the last 6 to 9 months. For some people the energy associated with it is palpable.
On June 3rd, six of the planets in our solem system will align. It doesn't mean you'll be able to see all of them from your backyard with the naked eye.
Some people believe that planetary alignments have an impact on weather events and on some human events. Whatever you believe look to the Eastern sky early in the morning of June 3rd.
