Music Calendar for this week
The 12th annual Viva Big Bend music festival will be July 26-30, 2023! Featuring 65+ shows in more than a dozen venues in Alpine, Marfa, Marathon, Terlingua, Presidio and Fort Davis. Approximately 55 bands/musicians (with a wide variety of styles represented) are expected to be showcased in at least 10 venues this year. The Milky Way Treats Ice Cream Trailer is now open at The Boathouse, 390 Ivey Road! We have soft serve, sundaes, shakes and more! Come by and chill out with us! Locals enjoy a 10% discount! Come see us at the Saturday Community Market from 10:00-1:00. We're planning to run right on through the summer. Located at the Community Garden in the Ghost Town, we're there every Saturday with happy vendors offering an array of locally produced goods and other items.
We welcome new vendors. Come set up in the shade to sell your wares. Flea market items are welcome. After all, reusing and up-cycling already existing items is smart and green. We ask a $10 donation to the Community Garden to set up, helping us to continue to improve this space and experience for all of us. The Terlingua Bottoms Group of AA meets every Thursday at 7:30 at the Big Bend Church in Study Butte. The meetings are open to anyone who has or thinks they may have a problem with drinking.

Working with Brewster County Officials, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is hosting a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training, September 22-24 at the Barton Warnock Visitor’s Center near Terlingua. This training is open to all citizens who wish to learn how to assist their community during times of disaster. The training is free and graduate receive a CERT Backpack, Hardhat, Safety Vest and other tools and Supplies. CERT has successfully trained more than 700,000 people how to safely provide critical emergency response in the first critical minutes following a disaster. Until recently, this has been a program only available to larger more suburban communities. Through a partnership between the Texas Association of Regional Council’s (TARC) and Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, TPWD has been working to bring this program to more rural communities that surround its State Parks and other assets. Last October, the first class was held at Davis Mountain State Park.
As a follow up to this class, the West Texas Preparedness Project, which TPWD is a part of will be holding a G-428 CERT Train the Trainer for those interested n becoming instructors for future classes.

Sunday Services
We have church service at 6:30pm on Sunday evenings. Dunamis Church Ministries.
Terlingua Bible Church has its service at 11 am on Sunday morning. Non denominational.
Everyone is welcome. Morning service has luncheon after service. Services are held at the Terlingua Bible Church Out by American legion hall. Have a blessed day everyone.

Call for Art!
Camelot Studio in Las Cruces, NM invites Big Bend visual artists to enter an exhibit at the home of Mary Diesel. The exhibit will run with open hours on November 3rd through the 5th, and continue for viewing by appointment through November 12th.

Old Spanish Trail Gallery, Ft Davis, Texas
Join in on the fun in Ft Davis, Texas as nationally recognized artist, Tim Oliver, shares his techniques and talents of watercolor painting. This three- day workshop follows the Trappings of Texas western artists show opening weekend festivities at the Museum of the Big Bend in Alpine, Texas. The workshop is open to all levels. Whether you are a novice or a master, there is always new insight to gain when you are with Tim!
Location: The beautiful mountains of west Texas on the historic Medley Ranch, The Old Spanish Trail Gallery. Lodging to be arranged by the participant. Hotels and VRBO rentals are available in
Ft Davis and Marfa. Crows Nest campground is adjacent to the gallery providing a limited number of cabins and RV/tent sites.
