Ballroom Dancing Lessons
Kathy and Ed will be teaching ballroom dancing weekly from January 8 to February 12 at the Cactus Farm Community Center (approx. 2 miles north of the American Legion on the west side of 118). That is every Tuesday from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Dances will include: waltz, two step, polka, fox trot, swing and cha cha. You do not need to have a partner. We will have a party/dance at the end of the lessons. Date to be determined. To sign up or for more information call 371-3070 and leave a message. Sign-ups will be limited.
THE BREWSTER COUNTY COURTHOUSE WILL BE CLOSED FOR THE CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY, DECEMBER 24th, 25th, & 26th 2018, & THE NEW YEAR HOLIDAY, DECEMBER 31st, 2018 & JANUARY 1, 2019.
Please join the Folklorico Dancers along with the Big Bend Episcopal Mission's Father Mike Wallens in honoring Our Lady of Guadalupe Day on December 12th, Wednesday. Don't miss the dance performance on the porch at 5pm, followed by a procession to the Ghostown Church, Santa Inez, and ending with a short prayer service. All are welcome.
TALK TO SANTA!! December 13th 5 to 7 PM BBARC will have our Santa Net, bring the kids to Morrison True Value Family of Stores in Alpine. DECEMBER TAIZÉ – A CONTEMPLATIVE SERVICE Taizé, an ecumenical, contemplative service will be held at 5:30 pm on Sunday, December 16, at St. James Episcopal Church located at 510 N. 6th St at Ave A in Alpine. A soup, salad and bread supper will follow that is free and open to all. Taizé worship consists of meditative singing and periods of silence. This month’s universal reconciliation service will focus on readings and chants exploring The Light Within the Darkness. More information, contact pscook.herenow@gmail.com.

The Terlingua Bottoms Group of AA meets every Thursday at 7:30 at the Big Bend Church in Study Butte. The meetings are open to anyone who has or thinks they may have a drinking problem.

Hurd Homeland Security Bill Passes Senate
WASHINGTON, DC – Last night, U.S. Representative Will Hurd’s bill, the DHS Data Framework Act, was passed unanimously by the Senate. After the House concurs with the Senate version’s language, it will be sent to the President’s desk to be signed into law. After hearing this tremendous news, Hurd gave the following statement:
“We live in an increasingly connected world and must be able to get the right information to the right people at the right to time in order to keep terrorists on the run and off our shores,” said Hurd, a former CIA undercover officer who serves on the House Homeland Security and Intelligence Committees in Congress. “The DHS Data Framework Act does just that by allowing DHS to quickly and safely share sensitive information among law enforcement agencies without compromising our nation’s secrets.
