Terlingua Moon
Volume 36, No. 15
April 15, 2025 by FreeBird
Let me tell you how it will be
There's one for you, nineteen for me
'Cause I'm the taxman
Yeah, I'm the taxman
Should five percent appear too small
Be thankful I don't take it all
'Cause I'm the taxman
Yeah, I'm the taxman
Now my advice for those who die (taxman)
Declare the pennies on your eyes (taxman)
'Cause I'm the taxman
Yeah, I'm the taxman
And you're working for no one but me (taxman) – George Harrison

vendors offering an array of locally produced goods and other items.
Local art, handcrafted textile goods, fresh eggs, all
natural lip balms and skin care products, essential oil perfumes, handcrafted,
creative jewelry, resin creations, block printed textiles and vintage goods,
both curated and up-cycled, practical and artistic items made of reclaimed
steel and more -- you never know just what or who you'll find here.
We welcome new vendors. Flea market items are also welcome. After all, reusing and up-cycling already
existing items is smart and green. We
ask a $10 donation to the Community Garden to set up, helping us to continue to
improve this space and experience for all of us. For more information, text or call

OBITUARY – DAVID CHESTER
FRICKER
Our beloved father, David
Chester Fricker, friend of the Big Bend and Terlingua-Study Butte Water Board
President for many years, passed away peacefully at Ascension Living Providence
Village in Waco, Texas on April 3, 2025. He was 84.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Virginia Bernadine
(Blavat) Fricker. For many years, they
were a local fixture, often seen walking along Highway 170 in the early
morning, collecting litter and keeping the road clean under the pseudonym,
‘Concerned Citizens of Highway 170’.
David loved the beauty of the Big Bend and the friendship of the people. He took great pleasure hosting dinner parties at his home. He created radio spots for the Terlingua Coyote radio and supplied gravel to Big Bend National Park from his ‘Long Draw’ gravel operation. He was fond of jokes and a master of puns. He enjoyed music, made his own unique CD collections, held multiple engineering patents, and had a penchant for car rides through raging thunderstorms. He also threw a mean fast ball once clocked at 97MPH.
“He
was the lightning bolt in a room! The
one with the energy that touched everyone. He will be missed! But stay open. If the lightning looks a bit more spectacular
than normal, it is.......”
The family plans a celebration in Dave & Virginia’s
honor. Details will be posted and online
remembrances (especially funny stories) may be expressed to the family by
visiting David’s obituary at
www.lakeshorefuneralhome.com or https://www.everlastmemorials.com/.
