THE TERLINGUA MOON - 10 March 2025 --Vol. 36 #10

TERLINGUA MOON
March 10, 2025
by Terlingua Thinking Team!!!

"As we Americans celebrate our diversity, so we must affirm our unity if we are to remain the 'one nation' to which we pledge allegiance. Such great national symbols and meccas as the Liberty Bell, the battlefields on which our independence was won and our union preserved, the Lincoln Memorial, the Statue of Liberty, the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Yosemite, and numerous other treasures of our national park system belong to all of us, both legally and spiritually. These tangible evidences of our cultural and natural heritage help make us all Americans." - Edwin C. Bearss, NPS Chief Historian, 1981-1994

A MESSAGE FROM ZOEY AND KEVIN:
Dear Terlingua Community,

We miss you and need to say so long (not goodbye) and wish you well.

In the 29 years of life in the desert, we hand built our home, biked, hiked, rode horseback and absorbed the beauty and quiet peace of the desert.  We had amazing adventures including guiding on horseback and jeep tours.

Volunteering was a large and very rewarding piece of our lives.  The BBCA (Big Bend Citizens Alliance); including recycling, the Community Garden and Market, the Green Scene, Kids in the Garden, South Co Library Project, Heritage Park and pathways and so much more!

But life will bring changes to us all.  And it became obvious that we needed to move to where conveniences and health care would support and simplify our senior years and offer us new adventures.

I trust that this community will grow and change in positive, empowering ways.  I encourage you, dear community, to step up, volunteer and be a part of the all of the good work being done for Terlingua and for your benefit.

Viva Terlingua,
All our Love,
Zoey and Kevin

COMMUNITY MARKET
Come see us at the Saturday Community Market from 10:00-1:00. Located at the Community Garden in the Ghost Town, we're here every Saturday with happy vendors offering an array of locally produced goods and other items.

Local art, handcrafted textile goods, fresh local eggs, sour dough bread, resin creations, all natural lip balms and skin care products, essential oil perfumes, handcrafted, creative jewelry, block printed textiles and vintage goods, both curated and upcycled, practical and artistic items made of reclaimed steel and more -- you never know just what or who you'll find here.

We welcome new vendors. Flea market items are also welcome. After all, reusing and up-cycling already existing items is smart and green. We ask a $10 donation to the Community Garden to set up, helping us to continue to improve this space and experience for all of us. For more information, text or call 432.213.1863, email SherriTheWriter@aol.com or pop in to the market for a chat. Prepared food vendors must display current food handling licence. (A quick, easy and affordable online course can provide that).

Please help keep our market space safe and comfortable for all, two-legged and four, by keeping all dogs leashed and under control. We look forward to seeing you there.
