Funky Junk
Terlingua and Beyond!!! October 7 and 8
Shannon Carter with the help of Cabin 10, Inc. is once again hosting the Funky Junk Show in Terlingua Ghostown and we want you to join us. You might ask “what the funk”? Well, it’s the renewal of the EyEBall Renaissance, a creative time when Mark “EyEBall” Kneeskern roamed Terlingua turning Junk into Art… Funky Junk!
What to expect? A community-based celebration… a weekend of visual art and music with all proceeds donated to the EyEBall Memorial Scholarship at Terlingua CSD.
The Starlight Theatre will kick the party off on Friday at 6pm featuring live music all night. The live music and performance art will continue at The Community Garden Saturday from noon through 5pm. Then Saturday night, The Starlight Theatre will feature the Funky Junk Art Show & silent auction with additional live music from 6pm – close. Costumes are encouraged for Saturday night, with the best costume receiving an EyEBall art piece. We’ll be back in the Garden on Sunday with music and activities from noon till 3pm when the Sunday Funday song circle will round out the goodtime.
Suggested Donations will be encouraged the weekend of the party in Ghostown, or in advance online. We would like to thank both the Starlight Theatre and Shot Time Liquor in advance for stepping up as sponsors. If you can’t attend but would like to help the cause, go online to www.cabin10.org , where a minimum suggested donation of $30 will have a Funky Junk T-Shirt delivered directly to you. Also, we are seeking items from the community for our silent auction, so let us know if you have an item or a service you are willing to donate.
All Donations are tax deductible, payable to Cabin 10, Inc. (501C3 #800334420). Please contact us at Cabin 10 for more information.

New York to California to Patchouli Gulch

Annie, oh Annie. Missing you…the laughs and rants and heartfelt conversations. I will miss your stories of France and New York and California. I long to hear your deep, raspy voice talk of your river adventures and Grateful Dead concerts. How will I keep up with the news and sports playoffs without you? I will miss the parade of foster dogs and the fabulous meals made with so much love. Thank you for serving our country in the military. Thank you for your feisty reminders to fight the good fight. Yes, we will vote. Thank for editing the Moon when you had to make copies and hand deliver them. We are deeply saddened that the cancer took you away from us. You may have left a small footprint on this planet by living in an off-grid yurt, but you made a huge impact on many lives. May your journey to the afterlife be on a gorgeous, healthy river in a raft filled with all of your canine friends. May your family and friends find peace. We love you!
