Slim Fest tWo
Hey, friends of the Moon and all things Big Bend! Let us clue you in on an amazing deal happening February 9-12 at The Starlight Theatre. $40 (advance sales) is all it will take to stand exclusively in the funky confines of the Starlight Theater with a hundred of your favorite Slim Richey-loving friends to see the infamous Joe Buck Johnson, the sweet voice and fiddle of Asleep at the Wheel’s Katie Shore, the incredible 2016 Grammy-nominated talent of Laurie Lewis & Tom Rozum, the chain’s-on-fire, boot-scooting sounds of Doug Moreland and his Flying Armadillos, and last, for the reason there might not be a Saturday night as they could easily burn the Starlight down, the smokin’ bluegrass of Wood & Wire. What!!! only $40?
Yep, but as long as you’re in The Bend - live here or make the trip out - you might as well throw down three more tens and a five for the one and only Uh Clem, the more-than-just-good music of The Paper Moon Shiners, a hang-on-let’s-spin set from Country Fool’s Gold, a blast from the past and always-present dem ol’ Greezy Wheels. How could this be topped?  Slim’s wife, Francie Meaux and the Jitterbug Vipers, along with special Ghost appearances from Greg Harkins, Beth Galiger, Todd Sloan, and many more.
If you do both nights (really, why wouldn’t you?) the whole weekend is only $75 in advance. Go to www.faroutbooking.com for the ticket link for Slim Fest tWo. Ticket sales will cap at 200. We also have a couple of sponsorships left. $500 or $300 - reserved table, weekend tix, t-shirts and announcing the musician of your choice (some already taken).
Terlingua was Slim and Francie’s anytime-they-could-get-here playground. No better way to celebrate what would have been this amazing legend’s 79th birthday. Questions? If you can, find the answers (including accommodations) on the website, or call 830.739.6986.
Hope to see you in February! Viva Slim!

From the Office of Emergency Management
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy and Safe New Years!

Burn Ban
According to Brewster County Emergency Management Coordinator, Dave Lambrix, an immediate emergency burn ban has been issued for all of Brewster County.
The burn ban was ordered by Brewster County Judge Eleazar Cano after a transformer fell causing a small wildfire that destroyed an abandoned structure.
All outdoor burning is prohibited.

Meet Marley!
Marley is a slender, young adult black lab mix who was surrendered to the shelter. He is mild-mannered and gets along with everyone - big or little, male or female, confident or submissive. Marley walks very well on a leash though you can tell it’s new to him. He likes to put his paws in the doggie pool and may discover he’s a full-fledged water dog. Marley is quiet and well-behaved in his kennel. He appears to be totally housebroken. In the security of a loving home, Marley will continue to shine! For more information about Marley, or any dog at the Alpine Animal Shelter, email heatherthemule@gmail.com.
