Terlingua Firefighters and EMS Fundraiser
Saturday, October 19th will be a day fun for all ages. The events will be held at DB's Rustic BBQ starting at 11AM.
11AM starts the sign up for the Dominoes tournament. $20 entry fee. $10 for the prize fund and $10 donation to the fire house. The winner of the tournament will take the prize fund home. Tournament will start promptly at 11:30.
1PM-3PM David and Alyson Fahl will take the stage for some live music.
3PM-4:45PM doors will be closed to help get ready for the music, fun, dancing and auctions. Doors will open at 4:45 for the firefighters and EMS ball. Event will end at midnight. Musicians will include Sherita Perez, Wendy Elizabeth Jones, Sarah Burton and Ginny Mac. We are accepting donation items and sponsors now. Contact Donnie Daniels at angelfirecreations@yahoo.com.

Study Butte Water Supply Update July 8, 2024
Due to the recent power outages and the increased usage with the holiday weekend, the levels of our water tanks are lower than we would like them to be. We are not currently in danger; however, we are asking for everyone to conserve water over the next few days to provide more time for the tanks to reach optimal level. Please reach out to us at the office if you have any questions. Please do not rely on sources outside of the Study Butte Water Supply Corporation for information as it may not be accurate. SOUTH COUNTY LIBRARY PROJECT
The volunteer Planning Committee for the SCLP is continuing to meet and plan for library services in South County. Our next meeting is scheduled for 6:00 PM on Thursday, July 11 at the Red Pattillo Community Center. Anyone who is interested is welcome to attend and we look forward to getting more volunteers involved as our project develops. Today, 7/6, at approximately 1213, TFEMS was dispatched to the report of a structure fire in the 53000 block of Hwy 118. TFEMS responded with 2 trucks and 6 personnel. Upon the arrival of Terlingua Fire, light smoke was showing from the Alpha side of the structure. An interior investigation with thermal imaging showed smoldering insulation in the attic. Firefighters pulled the ceiling, extinguished the remaining embers, and set up ventilation.
Before TFEMS’ arrival, employees began suppression efforts with on-scene fire extinguishers, with success.
The cause of the fire was unintentional and no injuries were reported.

BREWSTER COUNTY GROUNDWATER CONSERVATION DISTRICT
NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
ON APPLICATIONS FOR GROUNDWATER PRODUCTION PERMIT NOS. GPP-011, GPP-012, GPP-013
Notice is hereby given that on Thursday, August 1, 2024 commencing at eight o’clock (8:00 a.m. CDT), the Brewster County Groundwater Conservation District (“District”) will conduct a public hearing and possibly take action on the following pending application, which has been deemed administratively complete:
Applications by:
- Marathon Water Supply, for a Groundwater Production Permit (“GPP”), assigned No. GPP-011, 215 acre-feet annually
- Study Butte Water Supply, for a Groundwater Production Permit (“GPP”), assigned No. GPP-012, 310 acre-feet annually
- Lajitas Municipal Services, for a Groundwater Production Permit (“GPP”), assigned No. GPP-013, 300 acre-feet annually
which would authorize the applicants to produce groundwater in the District from unconfirmed minor aquifers in an amount not to exceed the amounts listed above annually for commercial/municipal use.
The General Manager of the District, Robbyn Hill (“General Manager”), has proposed issuance of a Groundwater Production Permit Nos. GPP-011, GPP-012, GPP-013, and the draft permits are available for public inspection by emailing bcgwcd@gmail.com.

The District will conduct a PUBLIC HEARING pursuant to its authority under Chapter 8827 of the Texas Special District Local Laws Code, Chapter 36 of the Texas Water Code, and the District’s Rules to consider action on Application No. GPP-011, GPP-012, GPP-013 and to provide interested members of the public an opportunity to appear and provide oral or written comments to the District regarding the proposed permit. The public hearing will be at the following location at the indicated date and time:

The General Manager will recommend to the District’s Board that it consider approving Application No. GPP-011, 012, 013 for the amounts listed above of production annually from unconfirmed minor aquifers under the terms and conditions set forth in the draft Groundwater Production Permit No. GPP-011, GPP-012, GPP-013.
Applicants and affected persons may request a contested case hearing on Application No. GPP-011, GPP-012, GPP-013 by submitting a request for contested case hearing in writing to the District. The request must be delivered to the District no later than 5:00 p.m. CDT on July 18, 2024, by email to bcgwcd@gmail.com, by USPS to PO BOX 465, Alpine, Texas or by scheduling hand delivery to the District Office by calling (432) 244-6030.
Persons with disabilities who plan to attend the district hearing and who may need auxiliary aids or services, such as interpreters for persons who are deaf or hearing impaired, readers, large print, or braille, are requested to contact the General Manager, at (432) 244-6030, at least five (5) work days prior to the meeting so that appropriate arrangements can be made. Persons who desire the assistance of an interpreter in conjunction with their oral presentation at this meeting are also requested to contact General Manager at least five (5) days prior to the meeting so that appropriate arrangements can be made.
