by Terlingua Thinking Team

"I love being around pet lovers. People brave enough to lower their walls and admit that the joy they get from their furry friends is sometimes far more plentiful than what they receive from humans. I realise I feel very at home here, with people like me." - Dawn Porter

"That's why it's never just a cat. It's a symbol of how hard you are capable of loving. And when they die, it reminds you of everything you ever lost." - Dawn Porter

ART IN MIDLAND
The Museum of the Southwest in Midland is looking for artists to display at their annual Septemberfest. This is a very popular outdoor arts festival; I participated for the first time last year and did very well, and I'm sure all of y'all would too!
They are seeking artist applications through Zapplications. The link to the application is:

ART IN SAN ANGELO
Here is the prospectus attached for the annual "West Texas Regional Juried Art Show & Sale".   For the first time the San Angelo Art Club will be doing a one-day Intake with the art juried that midday, and then any artworks that do not make it into the exhibition, must be picked up in mid-afternoon.

Happily, there are plenty of fun things to do in San Angelo while awaiting the Jurors' decisions.  There are great places to eat, wonderful shopping along Concho Avenue, an outstanding Museum to visit, the International Waterlily Park will be in full bloom, and the Visitors Center and riverwalk are special.  We will have sightseeing information for out-of-towners.

Start planning to bring your best art!  With $6,000 in cash prizes, many winners will go home happy after the Opening Reception on September 14th.   Of course you don't have to be present to win.  And, we will be stressing sales of artworks.

So, please read over the rules carefully, and contact me if you have any  questions.

Thanks,
Jean

COMMUNITY MARKET
Come see us at the Saturday Community Market from 10:00-1:00. Located at the Community Garden in the Ghost Town, we're here every Saturday with happy vendors offering an array of locally produced goods and other items.

Fresh eggs, local art, handcrafted textile goods, goat milk soap, all natural lip balms and skin care products, essential oil perfumes, leather goods, handcrafted, creative jewelry, block printed textiles and vintage goods, both curated and upcycled, practical and artistic items made of reclaimed steel and more -- you never know just what or who you'll find here. Indeed, lately, chess players have been meeting up for a game or two or three or...

We welcome new vendors. Flea market items are also welcome. After all, reusing and up-cycling already existing items is smart and green. We ask a $10 donation to the Community Garden to set up, helping us to continue to improve this space and experience for all of us. For more information, text or call 432.213.1863, email SherriTheWriter@aol.com or pop in to the market for a chat. Prepared food vendors must display current food handling licence.
