 High Sierra Bar & Grill
Thanks so much for a successful Terlingua Music Bash. As always Al Barlow and Gareth & Susan Angleton continue their musical tradition and High Sierra Bar & Grill are happy to be a part of it!  Special thanks to all musicians and Corbie Jones for organizing the various music venues for the musicians and also for selling our commemorative music lineup posters with proceeds going to Ghostown Charities!

 Water Catchment Tanks
The current order for Wylie tanks is only about half-filled.  This will probably be the last truckload order we place until after the new year. Please call us for specs, prices and to arrange a deposit.  We have had to be out of town for a bit, so if you have left us messages, please call again.  371-2506 home; (512) 924-2506 cell; or email us at elcentro432@gmail.com.

 Becoming Mechanic Center
Like all the other fluids and oils in your car, you want to change them as part of a routine maintenance schedule. Never do you want to wait until you are encountering a problem. As a rule of thumb, every 20- 30,000 miles is when you want to change your transmission fluid. Transmission fluid is a little bit different than engine oil because it has to not only lubricate, it also has to disperse heat. So clean, healthy transmission fluid should be cherry red and translucent. Please drop by to check your transmission oil and schedule a service for your car. My name is Antonio Guerrero, 371-2694.

 GG’s Honey Dos
Need something fixed, built or maybe even some demo, Gab can do it.  Better than a husband cause you can tell him to go away and he doesn’t watch football. Call for an appointment or consultation. 371-2694

Shot Time Liquor
New! Fulton’s Pumpkin Pie cream liqueur is just 14.15.  Pennsylvania Dutch eggnog made with a blend of liquor is available for 11.60.  In our rum department we now have Captain Morgan Cannon Blast in a cannonball shaped bottle and Grind, a coffee infused rum with just a hint of sweet.  Not Your Father’s Rootbeer, a dark spiced ale and Crabbie’s alcoholic Ginger beer are also now available.
Open as long as the law allows, Mon-Sat 10AM-9PM.

 Terlingua Tool Rentals
Jimmy Taylor, owner, 371-2621 Get those projects going with the cooler weather. We have what you need.

 Generators Update
Brewster County Emergency Management officials confirmed they have received tentative grant approval for generators in Marathon and Terlingua.
Matt Van Ostrand with Brewster County Emergency Management says FEMA approved grants for the two generators pending studies showing the devices will not damage historic buildings or the environment.
The generators were needed last winter, especially in Terlingua, where the lone power line into the city was cut due to inclement weather, leaving some residents in the border city without power for up to a week.
The installation date for the generations has not been decided.

 Terlingua Community Choir
The Terlingua Community Choir calls all past and future members to sing for the holidays! This season’s rehearsals will be Wednesdays, 5:30-7 in the TCSD band/music room, as before. Rehearsal dates are: Oct 28; Nov.4,11,18; Dec.2,9. Like last year, we will be singing melody only for our favorite carols, but you are welcome to sing “parts”!
Performance dates set are: Dec 10@Party Barn, and Dec 18@Barton Warnock Center, both with school band and contributions from the younger grades. Starlight may request our presence for a tree lighting night, as before. Call Ted, 371-2263, with questions.

 Library Meeting Lists
Our local library has telephone meeting lists for NA (Narcotics Anonymous), Al-Anon (Family and friends who have a drinking problem), ACA (Adult Children of Alcoholics and other dysfunctional families) and Recovery Inc. (Cognitive behavioral techniques for all kinds of emotional issues).  All meetings are free to attend but long distance phone charges do apply. All of the books (English and Spanish) can be checked out at the library as well.  There are also on-line meetings.  You can now get all kinds of help and support in the privacy of your own home at a variety of different times each and every day.

 Hi there, Handsome!
HANDSOME came to the shelter in June and is more than ready to find his family.  He has a lot of energy and doesn’t like being in a cage 24/7, but once he’s out of his kennel he is as sweet and fun as can be, and ready for an adventure. He adores playing with the other dogs - especially OCHO. They romp, chase and trade toys, then plop down in the sun together when they’re pooped.  HANDSOME has a terrific personality, and will fit in wonderfully with any loving family who lets him run, play and interact. HANDSOME is about 2 years old and just under 40 pounds. The Alpine Animal Shelter is open M-F from 10am to 6pm (closed 1-2pm) and by appointment on the weekends, located on the east side of Alpine on Old Marathon Road. All AAS animals are online at https://www.petfinder.com/pet-search?shelter_id=TX1202 or for more info email heatherthemule@gmail.com.
