Big Bend Family Crisis Center

Nueva información sobre la distribución mensual de alimentos del Centro de Crisis Familiar del Big Bend – Oficina de Terlingua:

To receive a food box, you MUST live in southern Brewster County..

The food boxes will only be distributed on the day designated for distribution. That day will be published as soon as it is scheduled. If you can't attend on the day, you can send someone with a signed note to collect for you.

If you are picking up boxes for someone other than you or your household, you will need to bring a note signed by that person. We can no longer release boxes without a signed note. Some boxes were picked up for others, but not delivered to them. Anyone who abuses the system will be removed from the food distribution list.

In order to continue to serve the southern county, we need to implement these changes due to an increase in participants. Our food costs and the number of participants has doubled in the past four years. To wrap up: We want to thank our volunteers who come out and do some serious work that makes this monthly event happen. They unload about 20,000 pounds of food by hand and package it and put it in everyone's cars. A HUGE THANK YOU from the CRISIS CENTER!

Come see us at the Saturday Community Market from 10:00-1:00. Yes, we're gonna be here all summer, just like we were last year. It was fun, so we're looking forward to doing it all again this summer. Located at the Community Garden in the Ghost Town, we're here every Saturday with happy vendors offering an array of locally produced goods and other items.

Fresh eggs, local art, handcrafted textile goods, goat milk soap, all natural lip balms and skin care products, essential oil perfumes, leather goods, handcrafted, creative jewelry, block printed textiles and vintage goods, both curated and upcycled, practical and artistic items made of reclaimed steel and more -- you never know just what or who you'll find here. Indeed, lately, chess players have been meeting up for a game or two or three or...

We welcome new vendors. Flea market items are also welcome. After all, reusing and up-cycling already existing items is smart and green. We ask a $10 donation to the Community Garden to set up, helping us to continue to improve this space and experience for all of us. For more information, text or call 432.213.1863, email SherriTheWriter@aol.com or pop in to the market for a chat. Prepared food vendors must display current food handling licence. (A quick, easy and affordable online course can provide that).

Please help keep our market space safe and comfortable for all, two-legged and four, by keeping all dogs leashed and under control. We look forward to seeing you there.
