Help the Tri-County Voter Promoters –– Get Online Deputy Voter Registrar Training.

The Travis County Tax Assessors Office is holding online (Zoom) events that you can register for.  The zoom training lasts about one hour, after which you are mailed a deputy voter registrar certificate for Travis County.  This certificate can be used to register voters in Travis County, but it can also be presented to Tax Assessors or Voter Administrators in other counties, who will then, at your request, give you a deputy voter registrar certificate to use to register voters in their county.  This is the way that members of our group became deputy voter registrars in Jeff Davis, Brewster, and Presidio counties last year.

Upcoming training sessions are scheduled for Tuesday, September 7th, at 10:30 A.M. and 6:30 P.M.; and Saturday, September 11th, at 10:30 A.M.  You can go to the website of the Travis County Tax Assessors Office to register.  The link below brings up a web page with a link that says:  Reserve your spot to attend.  Clicking on this link brings up a list of training sessions by date.  Just click on the one with the date and time you want and fill out the requested information.  You do need to join the zoom session promptly at the appropriate time, and participate in the session until the end, or you will not be sent the certificate.  Some of these sessions do fill up, so sign up for the session you want as early as possible.  The training is very helpful, and very professionally done.

Obviously, another very straightforward way to become a deputy registrar is to get certified at the appropriate tax assessors’ or voter administrators’ office in Fort Davis, Alpine, or Marfa.  If you choose this way, you will be required to answer test questions after reading state rules and regulations that apply to deputy voter registrars.

Please take the time to become a deputy voter registrar, and help us register voters during September, 2021, National Voter Registration Month. It is well worth the effort:  Volunteer Deputy Voter Registrar.
