Parks are GOOD for the Local Economy!  A new National Park Service (NPS) report shows that in 2015 over 437,000 visitors to Big Bend National Park & Fort Davis National Historic Site spent more than $36 million in communities near the parks.  That spending supported 552 jobs in the local area. For specifics about each NPS area, nationwide, go to https://www.nps.gov/subjects/socialscience/vse.htm Click on the Park Economies tab & choose a specific park for economic details.

The recycling trailer is now empty & open.  Special thanks to Jeff Gavin (Jeffro) for volunteering to take over Terlingua Recycles; thanks also for going to Alpine & emptying the trailer along with Jim & Barbara Hines, Sue & Joe Rife, & Commissioner Hugh Garrett (who enabled us to acquire our new trailer for Terlingua Recycles, & he also helped us unload it in Alpine).  Thanks to the City of Alpine's recycling, & always a thanks to the Big Bend National Park for letting us empty our trailer at their recycling center.  In the Spring the Park gets so overwhelmed with their own recycling that we just have to make the trip to Alpine once a year.

Many Stones has several new guitars starting at $100.00, many new knives & LOTS of eggs.

Maple!  Maple arrived at the shelter as a stray puppy & he didn’t quite know what to make of things, but he is coming around quickly! Maple is a little shy but his curiosity is getting the better of his shyness. His background & his genetics are both a mystery, adding to the intrigue! Maple likes snuggles, romping with other doggies, & is getting the hang of leash walking. We definitely see a precocious personality springing forth! Maple is being socialized with other dogs & people & hoping for a quick transfer to his new loving home. He is neutered, microchipped, & up to date on all shots. The Alpine Animal Shelter is open M-F from 10am-6pm (closed 1-2pm) & by appointment on the weekends, located on the east side of Alpine on Old Marathon Road. AAS animals are online at https://www.petfinder.com/pet-search?shelter_id=TX1202  For more info email heatherthemule@gmail.com
