Terlingua MOON
January 19, 2021
Vol.  32       No. 3

When we look at modern man we have to face the fact that modern man suffers from a kind of poverty of the spirit which stands in glaring contrast with a  scientific and technological abundance.
We’ve learned to fly the air as birds .
We’ve learned to swim the seas as fish .
Yet we haven’t learned to walk the earth as brothers and sisters.

PREVENTATIVE CARE HEALTH SERVICES, INC. -- The PCHS staff has successfully completed the first shipment of Covid-19 vaccines. 424 doses were administered. We thank all of our staff and volunteers for going above and beyond to make this happen. At this time, we DO NOT have any additional Covid-19 vaccines and we DO NOT yet know when we will receive more.

We thank our communities for being patient during this process. We ask that you DO NOT call our clinics to inquire about the vaccine. We have been overwhelmed with calls and want to be able to take care of our regular day to day activities and appointments.

More information about signing up for a Covid-19 vaccine will be posted here next week so we can prepare for our next shipment.

MEALS FOR VETS -- I just wanted to email you all and let you know that Meals for Vets is still here for any of your veterans who may be in need of our services. I also wanted you all to know that our application for services is now on-line at our website www.mealsforvets.org. This makes it easier for a veteran who may be in need of our services to apply and upload any documents that would be required to qualify for services.  Just to refresh, we assist veterans who are primarily under age 60, are struggling financially and cannot afford to access a daily, nutritious meal. We do this by contracting with local meals providers in the area where the veteran resides (e.g., Meals on Wheels) who in-turn, deliver a daily, around noon- time meal to the veteran’s residence five days a week. If a meal provider is not in an area where a veteran resides, we ship precooked, refrigerated meals to the veteran’s residence via Federal Express. Since our founding, Meals for Vets has been privileged to have served nearly 200,000 meals to veterans who might not have been able to access a meal any other way. I appreciate you taking the time out of your schedule to read this and if you have any questions or would like updates on our program, please feel free to email or call me at the number below. Respectfully.  Mike Cagle, Program Director Meals for Vets  103 Industrial Loop, Ste. 1050 Fredericksburg, Texas, 78624 mike@honorveteransnow.org 830-992-3375800-676-1389 Fax 830-992-3374

“In a world whose absurdity appears to be so impenetrable, we simply must reach a greater degree of understanding, a greater sincerity.  We must achieve this or perish.  To do so, certain conditions must be fulfilled: we must be frank (falsehood confuses things), we must be free (communication is impossible with slaves).  Finally, we must feel a certain justice around for all.” —Albert Camus

CHEERS TO ALL THE EMPLOYERS treating their workers well in these busy, COVID crazy times.  With so much traffic, money, and germs flowing in, employers who pay a fair and decent wage-- even for part timers (the majority)-- get real respect.  This editor urges ALL employers to participate in the “trickle down” effect by giving workers regular bonuses, commissions, and pay raises when business is raking it in.  Help build a stronger, more generous *equitable* community from the bottom up!
