Welcome our new Guest Artist, Milwaukee-based artist Mark Wojno, who explores ideas and emotions of "stark beauty" through oil paintings of the Chihuahuan desert and industrial landscapes of Milwaukee and Chicago. Originally trained as a cultural anthropologist, this mostly self-taught artist has always been sensitive to visual elements of different cultures. Spending his time between Terlingua and Milwaukee, he depicts vast spaces and light punctuated by simple but dramatic built and natural forms, evoking a sense of solitude and silence. This pattern is especially evident in his representational landscapes of the Big Bend.

FROM ANONYMOUS DISSATISFIED AUDIENCE MEMBER: I attended the Terlingua school Christmas program last night and I was FLOORED by the utter disrespect from 90% of the audience.  The adults were talking, laughing, making plans; cell phones were ringing and being answered; children were unattended in the back of the room playing; kids were going in and out of the library throughout the entire performance.  It was so shameful to witness, and it happens every year.  These little people practice so hard; they're nervous; this is special to them, and they are so excited to put on a special play.  To have it ruined by disrespectful, rude and ignorant people is unacceptable.  I feel so sorry for them and the teachers that put in so much time.  If you can’t sit through a 30 minute production put on by children and keep your mouth shut…then STAY HOME.

The Terlingua Bottoms Group of AA meets every Thursday at 7:30 at the Big Bend Church in Study Butte.  The meetings are open to anyone who has or thinks they may have a drinking problem.

ALL ENERGIES
Tip of the Week: Remote monitoring of residential solar systems started about 10 years ago. Our first experience with remote monitoring was in 2013 with Apollo solar equipment at a very remote site. The remote monitoring not only lets us know everything is ok, it also gives us useful info on solar production and energy consumption. Now most manufacturers provide some sort of remote monitoring technology. If you need help making your solar system work better, email casey@allenergies.net or call/text 432-242-1874 Thanks, Casey!

TERLINGUA RANCH ELECTION
Our current BoD has made AGAIN made considerable progress for 2019.  The income from the Lodge has been tremendous.  The management  now has a new (used) road grader paid out of operations income and the old one is now rebuilt!!!   Life on the Ranch has continued, as always.  BUT, land values are still rising due to more visitors and new buyers.  The entire South County area has been discovered and is simply exploding.  This is good and bad, but it is progress.

We have only ONE volunteer to run for the BOD.  IT IS ESSENTIAL you mark your Ballot and RETURN it.  There are still some folks out in the weeds that can pop up to "stir the pot" and create havoc.  It is important to remember that our by-laws require that a candidate get a majority of the ballots cast (50% + 1) in order to be seated on the Board.  This protects us from having board members who did not get a majority of support from the owners who voted.  The BoD can function with as few as 7 Directors until the next election (2021).

Please go to the website:     www.poatri.org        1) go to BASICS with the drop down,      2) go to Board Information,     3)  Click on the candidate's NAME for   Candidate Information,   4     Please read the applications closely.   The Ballot gives only a minimal comment. Please get involved,     VOTE.

 BALLOT # 1.  RUSSELL BUNDY

Russell has been on the Board for the past year.  He has done a good job participated in the hard work.  QUOTE FROM THE PAST…”The current BoD needs the ability to continue their positive progress" toward the bright future we can now see for Terlingua Ranch!!!!!
Please pass this on to all your friends and neighbors on your email list, if you agree with me.    Thank you for your time and consideration.  Please feel free to contact me. Thanks...  Barbara Trammell   432-371-2414  home
