Regarding the Study Butte Water Plant:
I don’t have all the details yet, but the weather has caused some water production issues. The plant is running and should be back to normal, but water conservation is very important at this time, so it can catch up.

DUMP DAY!!!
Mark your calendars: Brewster County Cleanup Day will be Saturday, April 10 from 9AM to 3PM! More details to come soon.

The show went well and we are looking forward to recording some videos to post on our website for everyone to enjoy.
From Ms. Baumann: Asa Reed's poem, "Mama's Going Away", made it through the second round of the judging process in the Lone Star Cowboy Poetry Youth Contest. She will be reciting her poem in the form of a video when the event goes live. Congratulations to Asa!
From Ms. Reed: Many Big Bend High School students will participate in Rankin for the UIL District Academic Meet on March 25th. Good morning to you all and thank you Mr. Yancy for including these contacts.

FOR VETERANS -- FROM NEW CONGRESSMAN'S AIDE
My name is Dolly Schultz and I’m the Veterans Advocate and Caseworker for Congressman Tony Gonzales.  I’m working on a couple of lists to plan our visits out there, as well as to send all of you information that may pertain to our Veterans.   I would greatly appreciate it, if each of you could send me an email with your information as well as meeting information of your organizations.
Congressman Gonzales is a retired Navy Master Chief.  As a veteran himself, he understands firsthand the problems faced by our active duty military and Veterans.  He understands the importance of working with other members of Congress, military and VA officials, and members of the community at every level to ensure our Veterans are getting the best possible help they could need.  This is where you all come in, he needs to hear your concerns and how he may help addressing those concerns.  Our plan is to schedule Veteran Town Hall style meetings, I haven’t figured out what we will call them yet, when he is in your area..  We have such a vast district that I figured the best way to communicate with our fellow veterans is through the VSOs, American Legions and VFWs.  If we need to spread the word through social media or press releases let me know and we can arrange that.
If you have contacts with other VFWs or American Legions please feel free to send me their information as well as pass mine along to them.  Thank you all for your attention and I’m looking forward to meeting ya’ll.

The Cinnabar Theater may be dark, but Big Bend talent still shines.  In cooperation with the Terlingua School, Last Minute Low Budget Productions is hosting a Virtual Talent Show.  The contest will be held near the end of March (details coming soon) and is open to all Terlingua-area residents.  A panel of judges will view performances online and vote.  After judges have had a few days to watch the performances, they will be posted online and winners announced.  Anyone wanting to be a judge should email bourbon@bigbend.net

EARTH and FIRE Gallery  We will be hosting Marti Anderson as our guest artist for the month of February.  Marti is a talented artist in both oils and watercolors.   She will be showing a fine collection of bluebonnet watercolors created especially for this show at our gallery.   Marti will also  be hosting two workshops while she is here this month.  The first is a two day "en plen air" oil painting workshop on Feb. 11 and 12th.  Learn how to paint in the great outdoors....or "brush up" on new techniques.  The second will be a one day "journaling with watercolors" event that explores how to spruce up those diaries and/or travel journals we all keep.  Materials will be provided for this class including watercolors, brushes, and a journal to take with you.  Cost is $50.00 and class size is limited.  Join us for the fun (there may be some wine involved.....) on Feb. 14th.  What better way to celebrate valentines day than creating art with friends.  You can contact Earth and Fire gallery at 371-2637 for more information or to sign up for a workshop.

The Terlingua Community Gardeners will be available this Friday 2/5 at 10 a.m. and Saturday 2/6 at 10 a.m.   Pick a garden plot and get ready to plant.

Due to construction delays caused by the public health crisis, the park's closure has been extended. The on-going Balmorhea State Park construction projects are managed by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s (TPWD) Infrastructure Division, so park staff are unable to directly provide updates on the projects and potential park reopening dates. The Infrastructure Division collaborates with TPWD’s Press Office to produce project status updates. Please click the link below to read the most recent press release concerning the construction projects.

Veterans Administration is moving to a digital check issue. There has been problems with Veterans getting paper checks from VA. One of the biggest is someone other than the Veteran getting the check before the Veteran does and cashing it.  VA hopes this will stop issues with getting money to Veterans on time. Also if you want to change bank account information you can call 1-800-827-1000 and ask for agent or go to VA.gov and log into your VA account. Before trying to make changes have your bank routing and account numbers.
