Brewster County Runoff Election
Notice is hereby given that the polling places listed below will be open from 7 am to 7 pm, May 24, 2016, for voting in primary runoff elections for the Democratic and Republican parties to nominate federal officers, members of the State Legislature, and state, district and county officers. On election day, voters must vote in their precinct where registered to vote.
Pct. 1: Alpine High School, 300 E Hendryx at Fighting Buck Ave., Alpine
Pct. 2: Commissioners’ Courtroom, Brewster County Courthouse, 201 W Ave E, Alpine
Pct. 3: Marathon Community Center, 2nd & Ave E, Marathon
Pct. 4: City of Alpine Council Chambers, 803 W Holland, Alpine
Pcts. 5, 6 & 7: Red Pattillo Community Center, Hwy 118, Study Butte/Terlingua
Pct. 8: Alpine Neighborhood Center, 607 W Gallego, Alpine
For early voting (May 16-May 20, 2016, 8:30 am-5 pm; extended hours May 19, 2016, 8:30 am-7 pm): Commissioners’ Courtroom, Brewster County Courthouse, 201 W Ave E, Alpine.
Applications for ballot by mail should be mailed to: Office of the County Clerk, PO Box 119, Alpine TX 79831. Applications for ballot by mail must be received no later than the close of business on May 13, 2016.

Dental Clinic at Big Bend Church. A dentist will be available Thursday, May 12, through Saturday, May 14. For dental needs of the Big Bend area residents. 9 am. No appointments necessary! Have children come for dental checkups. Eye exams available as well!

Announcing 3rd Sunday services in Lajitas at Sts. Mary and Joseph at 4 pm, starting this month, May 15 and continuing through the rest of the year -- summer, too! Air conditioning. All welcome.

The Garden needs volunteers to wrap up the season and clean up the garden, Wednesday 8 am to  11 am.

Burn Ban Still in Effect
The Brewster County Commissioners’ Court has voted to continue the Brewster County burn ban for an additional 90 days.  The burning of trash, brush, and debris is prohibited.  Additionally, the Brewster County burn ban continues the restrictions on outdoor welding.  An online version of the signed order can be found at http://www.brewstercountytx.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/Burn-Ban-Renewal-Order-As-of-May-10-2016.pdf.
