Hospital district talks plan for new Terlingua clinic, EMT services    BY SAM KARAS; THE BIG BEND SENTINEL, JUNE 21, 2023

Article excerpts:

“…last June… Presidio and Terlingua were the recipients of a large grant from the USDA…. Presidio will open an after-hours clinic; Terlingua will have a part-time clinic for the first time in two decades.”

Potential first moves in Terlingua are a mobile clinic, hiring Paramedics, telemedicine, and hiring a social worker to connect locals with available resources.

Are you interested in being seen by our Community Health Paramedics?  Send us a private message 512-351-0259 (cell) or email (jd@bbrhd.com) with your name, address, and a description of your need for service.  We are looking to "pre-register" patients and map out the locations of each individual.  You can also call the station directly, Monday-Friday, 9am-3pm, at (432) 371-2536.  We look forward to hearing from you.

Did you know almost every day is a training day for TFEMS personnel?  With extended transport times to Big Bend Regional, we take pride in knowing our community members will be well taken care of by highly skilled Fire & EMS professionals.  The need for continuous training is especially important for our remote service area and our staff is constantly working towards improving our skills.
Stay safe, J. Thomason, FF/EMT, Public Information Officer

6-11-61- 3-17-23

There will be a celebration of Bill’s life on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at the Ghostown.  It will start at the historic Terlingua Cemetery at 10 am.  Then move on to a small reception at the Taqueria El Milagro, 210 Ivey Road. It will be hot.  Bring an umbrella if possible.  Also, if you can bring a rock to help decorate the site or any other memento, that would be appreciated.

Sincerely, Patricia Wright (mom), Kim Green (sister), Madi (niece), Edna Queen

Saturday Community Market
Come see us at the Saturday Community Market from 10:00-1:00.  We're planning to run right on through the summer.  Located at the Community Garden in the Ghost Town, we're there every Saturday with happy vendors offering an array of locally produced goods and other items.

Fresh eggs, local art, handcrafted textiles, goat milk soap, all natural lip balms, hand balms and perfumes, leather goods, Sandy's creative pop-up shop and more -- you never know just what you'll find.  Pop in to see one of our new vendors and her handcrafted, creative jewelry, block printed textiles and vintage goods, both curated and upcycled.

We welcome new vendors.  Come set up in the shade to sell your wares.  Flea market items are welcome. After all, reusing and up-cycling already existing items is smart and green.  We request a $10 donation to the Garden to set up, helping us to continue to improve this space and experience for all of us.  For more information, text or call 432.213.1863, email SherriTheWriter@aol.com or pop into the market for a chat.

Do you have mad skills and smart, practical talents you'd like to share?  We all love to learn about sustainable arts and useful skills here in Terlingua. Let's talk about a workshop.

Please help keep our market space safe and comfortable for all, two-legged and four, by keeping all dogs leashed and under control.  We look forward to seeing you there.

Taqueria El Milagro  -- We are closed for the summer.
