“How many legs does a dog have if you call his tail a leg? Four. Saying that a tail is a leg doesn't make it a leg.”

-- Abraham Lincoln

PREVENTATIVE CARE HEALTH SERVICES, INC. -- The PCHS staff has successfully completed the first shipment of Covid-19 vaccines. 424 doses were administered. We thank all of our staff and volunteers for going above and beyond to make this happen. At this time, we DO NOT have any additional Covid-19 vaccines and we DO NOT yet know when we will receive more.

We thank our communities for being patient during this process. We ask that you DO NOT call our clinics to inquire about the vaccine. We have been overwhelmed with calls and want to be able to take care of our regular day to day activities and appointments.

More information about signing up for a Covid-19 vaccine will be posted here next week so we can prepare for our next shipment.

COVID VACCINE UPDATES – Week 5 allocations have been announced. New shipments are coming to both Presidio and Brewster counties. For more information, you can visit the Texas Department of State Health Services website at: https://www.dshs.texas.gov/news/updates/COVIDVaccineAllocation- Week5.pdf

As of January 10, Brewster County had 881 confirmed cases, including 66 active cases. Please do your part to keep our community safe.

NEWS FROM ANGELFIRE CREATIONS -- We are temporarily closed until further notice. Lynda Daniels has volunteered to go back in the medical field as a respiratory therapist. They’ve been exhibited at Earth and Fire Art Gallery in Terlingua, Texas and currently at Kaufman Art Gallery in Tonganoxie, Kansas. MEALS FOR VETS -- I just wanted to email you all and let you know that Meals for Vets is still here for any of your veterans who may be in need of our services. I also wanted you all to know that our application for services is now on-line at our website www.mealsforvets.org. This makes it easier for a veteran who may be in need of our services to apply and upload any documents that would be required to qualify for services.  Just to refresh, we assist veterans who are primarily under age 60, are struggling financially and cannot afford to access a daily, nutritious meal. We do this by contracting with local meals providers in the area where the veteran resides (e.g., Meals on Wheels) who in-turn, deliver a daily, around noon- time meal to the veteran’s residence five days a week. If a meal provider is not in an area where a veteran resides, we ship precooked, refrigerated meals to the veteran’s residence via Federal Express. Since our founding, Meals for Vets has been privileged to have served nearly 200,000 meals to veterans who might not have been able to access a meal any other way. I appreciate you taking the time out of your schedule to read this and if you have any questions or would like updates on our program, please feel free to email or call me at the number below.
