Blair Pittman has been moved out of the Midland-Odessa Hospital and into a critical hospice care facility. He has amazed people with his health antics in the past, but prayers are needed. We LOVE YOU, Blair!!!!

We will also be selling tickets at the Big Bend Motor Inn on Tuesday, October 4th from 3 to 6 PM. For just $10 per ticket (3 tickets for $25) you could win a 400W solar power kit ($750 value) or a Sun Oven solar cooker ($300 value) or a large radial clothesline ($200 value). Winners will be drawn at the GREEN SCENE on Saturday, October 22nd but you don't have to be present to win. Buena suerte, amigos!

That's what the Terlingua Preservation Society* raised this past week with "TERLINGUA 2016", its annual fun-filled automotive performance and social event, for Terlingua's schoolkids, Fire & EMS, and veterans. Now in its EIGHTH year, stronger than ever. Doing good never felt so good. íííVIVA TERLINGUA!!!

This week at La Kiva:
Tuesday is karaoke, Wednesday open mic (unsupervised), Thursday and Friday we have our fish and chips special along with the musical stylings of Sarah Burton on Friday. Great food and drinks all week long! We are still hiring for kitchen positions, come in and see us if you're interested!

In conjunction with the Dude of the Dead Music Festival! Free Camping! BYOB! Free entrance to the festival!
Everyone here in Big Bend cooks out on a disco. Everyone has the BEST recipe. So come on out and join in on the fun ! Bring your disco, your best recipe and claim your bragging rights!!

* Location: Presidio Trading Post, at the Dude of the Dead Music Festival
* Entry Fee: $40.00
* Turn in time: 4 pm
* $250.00 first place with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place trophies
* Rules: The ingredients /meat can be of your choice. The entries will be judged on the disc dish only, no side condiments (tortillas, chips, etc.)

Brewster County General Election Candidate Forum
The Brewster County Democratic and Republican Parties will host a candidate forum for the public to meet and hear from Brewster County candidates running for contested offices in the November 8, 2016 General Election
Date of the forum:  Saturday, October 22, 2016
Time:  2 pm
Location:  Alpine Independent School District Auditorium, 704 West Sul Ross Ave, Alpine, Texas  NOTE: NO campaign signs or electioneering are allowed on the AISD premises.
Moderator:  John Waters, Publisher, Big Bend Gazette

Early voting for the General Election in Brewster County will start October 24, 2016. This is an opportunity for our citizens to become more aware of the competing candidates and the issues pertinent to the offices they seek.  Please share this announcement far and wide and encourage citizens to attend.

The Terlingua Bottoms Group of AA meets every Thursday at 7:30 at the Big Bend Church in Study Butte.  The meetings are open to anyone who thinks they may have a drinking problem.
