Next Moon: Mae Western

“The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission said Monday that it would not try to delay or block a large natural gas pipeline planned for the Big Bend, dealing a blow to opponents who argue that the project will damage the pristine West Texas region.” San Antonio Express News, Jan. 4, 2016.

BREWSTER COUNTY, TX (KWES) – “The body of a missing Brewster County woman was found Thursday morning. 46-year-old Lawrie Tucker's body was discovered about a mile away from where her car crashed. Brewster County deputies say her car had driven through a fence off of Adobe Walls Ranch, near Terlingua. Investigators believe Tucker walked away from her car. They found her body after following tracks from the car. Tucker was last seen Saturday, December 26. The sheriff's office believes she may have died from exposure to the elements. There was a winter storm on the day she disappeared.”

Despite the cloudy and cold conditions, the 26th Annual Black Eyed Pea Off was able to raise $2,150.00 for Last Minute, Low Budget Production's building fund. The first place trophy this year went to Brittney Lowe. Second place was Guy Goodspeed (visiting son of Deanna from El Dorado Hotel), and third place went to an Alpine cooking team, Robert and Rod. Honorable Mention goes out to the person who used curry and chicken in their black eyed pea dish. You caught the judges' attention, so work on that recipe and please enter again in the future. Thanks goes out to ALL the helpers, and to Abbe Waldman Delozier, Tony Faulk, and Charlotte Teer for heading up the fantastic music. With help from the sheriff's department and the district attorney, we "arrested" Deputy Ben and put him in the historic Terlingua jail. It took less than an hour to bail him out. A BIG thank you to all the hotels, restaurants, and outfitters who generously donated to the "hot date" raffle. Also all those cakes were wonderful and appreciated. Hope to see you all next year, with any luck!

NOODLE is an 18th month old male boxer mix with Brewster County connections. NOODLE has been in a temporary home since showing up on the street after the 4th of July (maybe scared by fireworks). He is enthusiastically affectionate and can be energetic when it comes to play with his toys. He can also be a bit of a sleepy-head, and loves his naps. He flops over with a push, like a wet noodle, hence his name: NOODLE Loves to play with other dogs and is kid-friendly. Neutered, housebroken, up to date on all shots. He will bark if strangers come to the door and is good indoors and out. NOODLE is not in a shelter but was a rescued stray who is a wonderful companion and desperately needs a loving, permanent home.
