I would love to invite everyone out to our fundraiser events the weekend of January 29 30 & 31st here at High Sierra Bar & Grill Terlingua .
Saturday is the CASI US National Chili Championship. The High Sierra was chosen to host this event as it travels to different states every year and this year Texas was chosen and therefore we were awarded the opportunity.
Sunday will be the annual Dutch Oven Cook-off
Both events are the biggest fundraiser for our charity BBCA/Ghost Town Charity 5013c.  As some of you may know, Herman and I help so many locals with unforeseen medical and dental bills including gas to go to Alpine or beyond for appointments.  We have helped many with tires, batteries and simple mechanical problems as well as rent utilities and propane.

Wednesday:  Open Mic hosted by Jeffro Greasewood.  7 - ???  The Musicians' Tips this week go to a very special group - The Fort Davis Veterinary Services' Save-a-Raptor fund.  These good people have been taking care of injured raptors in the Big Bend region for quite some time and at their own cost.  This was brought to light this past week when a Red-Tailed Hawk was found in Terlingua Creek.  The Hawk had been shot numerous times and was rescued and taken to Ft. Davis.  Unfortunately, the Hawk did not make it but this has triggered a chorus of outcry and we, at The Boathouse, join those voices.  Besides the music, we hope to help raise awareness about this - and other - protected species. In the meantime, there is a $500 reward being offered for any information leading to the arrest of the individual or individuals responsible for mortally wounding this most recent hawk.  Call the Brewster County Sheriff's Department at 432. 837.3488.  Come lend your voice - musically, spoken word, or otherwise - to this very special Open Mic!
Thursday:  Emy Taylor is back in town and we're glad to have her on the bill!  7 - 9 p.m.
Friday:  J. Michael Combs is also back in town.  Be sure not to miss out!  7 - 10 p.m. and the Friday Dinner Special is Spicy Szechuan Shrimp Stir Fry, Egg Rolls & Rice.

The tour turned into a substantial fundraiser for Last Minute Low Budget Productions, helping fund every theatrical season.  Last year, however, attendance was down substantially and the decision was made not to conduct the Tour in 2016.  Last Minute Low Budget Productions wishes to thank all the wonderful people who made these last 13 Home Tours such a success.  Perhaps Tours will roll again, but in any case, it's been a great run.

MAX, a 3 year old Heeler/Border Collie mix, spent his early years working happily as a goat herder, but transitioned poorly when his family moved to town. As a working dog, MAX misses his job outside. He has all the potential to be a great pet - he doesn’t necessarily need to be run livestock on a ranch, but he doesn’t want to be a couch potato or spend his days cooped up as a yard dog. He needs an active life full of engagement & adventure (without small children). $100 adoption fee includes neuter, shots, & microchip. The Alpine Animal Shelter is open M-F from 10am to 6pm (closed 1-2pm) and by appointment on the weekends, located on the east side of Alpine on Old Marathon Road. All AAS animals are online at https://www.petfinder.com/pet-search?shelter_id=TX1202 For more info email heatherthemule@gmail.com

TERLINGUA GOES MAD
SOUTH BREWSTER COUNTY—In 1938 a film called Reefer Madness came out.  It was designed to terrify people about reefer, or marijuana, cigarettes.  It’s partner in this crime was jazz, still new and threatening.  In the 1950s a play of the same name spoofed the over-the-top original.
Last Minute Low Budget Productions will start off 2016 with Joe Landry’s version of that hilarious play.  Reefer Madness will open at the Cinnabar Theater on February 26 for two three-day weekends ending with a matinee on March 6.
The Cinnabar stage becomes a mid-1950s high school where the principal has decided to stop at nothing to keep his students from dastardly POT!  The gala opening, with refreshments, will begin at 7 p.m. on the 26th.  Friday and Saturday “curtain” times are 8 p.m. with Sunday matinees beginning at 2.
Last Minute Low Budget Productions is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) community theater group that began putting on plays in the Terlingua area in 1989.  The all-volunteer cast and crew hail from the area.  All tax-exempt donations much appreciated.
