The Terlingua Bottoms Group of AA will meet this  Thursday at 7:30 at the Big Bend Church in Study Butte. The meetings are open to anyone who has or thinks they may have a drinking problem. We meet in a group of less than five, wear masks, and practice Social Distancing.

The Cinnabar Theater may be dark, but Big Bend talent still shines.  In cooperation with the Terlingua School, Last Minute Low Budget Productions is hosting a Virtual Talent Show.  The contest will be held near the end of March (details coming soon) and is open to all Terlingua-area residents.  A panel of judges will view performances online and vote.  After judges have had a few days to watch the performances, they will be posted online and winners announced.  Anyone wanting to be a judge should email bourbon@bigbend.net

EARTH and FIRE Gallery  We will be hosting Marti Anderson as our guest artist for the month of February.  Marti is a talented artist in both oils and watercolors.   She will be showing a fine collection of bluebonnet watercolors created especially for this show at our gallery.   Marti will also  be hosting two workshops while she is here this month.  The first is a two day "en plen air" oil painting workshop on Feb. 11 and 12th.  Learn how to paint in the great outdoors....or "brush up" on new techniques.  The second will be a one day "journaling with watercolors" event that explores how to spruce up those diaries and/or travel journals we all keep.  Materials will be provided for this class including watercolors, brushes, and a journal to take with you.  Cost is $50.00 and class size is limited.  Join us for the fun (there may be some wine involved.....) on Feb. 14th.  What better way to celebrate valentines day than creating art with friends.  You can contact Earth and Fire gallery at 371-2637 for more information or to sign up for a workshop.

The Terlingua Community Gardeners will be available this Friday 2/5 at 10 a.m. and Saturday 2/6 at 10 a.m.   Pick a garden plot and get ready to plant.

Now is the time to plant your greens.  We have some seeds available, but bring your favorites to get started.

Due to construction delays caused by the public health crisis, the park's closure has been extended. The on-going Balmorhea State Park construction projects are managed by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s (TPWD) Infrastructure Division, so park staff are unable to directly provide updates on the projects and potential park reopening dates. The Infrastructure Division collaborates with TPWD’s Press Office to produce project status updates. Please click the link below to read the most recent press release concerning the construction projects.

Veterans Administration is moving to a digital check issue. There has been problems with Veterans getting paper checks from VA. One of the biggest is someone other than the Veteran getting the check before the Veteran does and cashing it.  VA hopes this will stop issues with getting money to Veterans on time. Also if you want to change bank account information you can call 1-800-827-1000 and ask for agent or go to VA.gov and log into your VA account. Before trying to make changes have your bank routing and account numbers.
