Earth and Fire Gallery
Welcome our new Guest Artist, Milwaukee-based artist Mark Wojno, who explores ideas and emotions of "stark beauty" through oil paintings of the Chihuahuan desert and industrial landscapes of Milwaukee and Chicago. Originally trained as a cultural anthropologist, this mostly self-taught artist has always been sensitive to visual elements of different cultures. Spending his time between Terlingua and Milwaukee, he depicts vast spaces and light punctuated by simple but dramatic built and natural forms, evoking a sense of solitude and silence. This pattern is especially evident in his representational landscapes of the Big Bend.
