La Kiva
Until further notice La Kiva's Kitchen will be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays beginning with Monday, July 16th and Tuesday, July 17th.  The Bar, of course, will be open seven days every week. Wednesday through Sunday, the full Menu will be available.  Music on Thursday, July 19th will be Chet O'Keefe with his wonderful guitar.
There will be Karaoke on Friday, 20th and Saturday 21st.

The Big Bend Citizens' Alliance will hold a regular meeting on Saturday, July 21st at the Red Pattillo Community Center in Study Butte (behind the Post Office). Meet and greet at 5:30 PM, and our meeting will begin at 6PM. We are a public charity supporting the Terlingua Community Garden, Kids Klub, Terlingua Recycles, Voices from Both Sides, Terlingua Visual Arts, and Ghost Town Charities. MAMMOGRAM BUS
July 26th Desert Imagining will be bringing down their mobile mammogram unit. They will park in front of the Big Bend Resort Party Barn by the stables from 2pm to 6pm.  Uninsured women ages 50 plus are eligible for their grant but must have your name down 10 days before the event. Call Mirna Salinas at 915.227.0530.  Come out and get your mammograms done, it could save your life.

Marfa Public Radio is taking a road trip from the Border to the Basin to launch their new program, West Texas Wonders. And, they want to meet you along the way. Reporter, Sally Beauvais and General Manager, Elise Pepple will be hanging out across West Texas and want to know what you are curious about. West Texas Wonders is a new journalism initiative from Marfa Public Radio that invites you to take part in the stories they cover. It's guided by you and your curiosity about our region - from the border to the Basin. You can ask anything about West Texas, silly or serious, big or small, from that weird street name in your neighborhood to where your tax dollars go. Meet Oakley! This boy is a shy but sweet 4 month old heeler mix puppy. Oakley loves to play but he also can’t get enough of snuggling up on the couch. He gets along well with other dogs and enjoys playing in water. Oakley is neutered, microchipped and up to date on all vaccinations.
