TERLINGUA MOON

December 19, 2017
Vol.  28   No.  51

by Million sMiles

"Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story. . .  " ~Max Ehrmann

It's hard to believe that Christmas, and then New Year's, are upon us. We're grateful to all of our guests and visitors - from near and far - for spending this holiday season with us. So that you can plan in advance, we're going to give you a bit of our schedule for the next few weeks. PLEASE NOTE, HOWEVER, THAT WE ARE CLOSED THIS TUESDAY, DECEMBER 19, FOR OUR EMPLOYEE HOLIDAY PARTY!!!

New Year's Eve is going to rock and roll as Bob Livingston with Bradly Kopp take us into 2018. There's no cover and no better show in town. And, of course we'll have our traditional balloon drop and New Year's toast! Then on Monday, New Year's Day, join us for the Annual Townes Van Zandt Tribute and Open Mic hosted by Butch and Rory Hancock. Doors open at 5 but spend the afternoon in the Ghost Town at the Annual Black Eyed Pea Off before joining us for one of our favorite nights of the year. We are happy to take dinner reservations for parties of 10 or more; email terlinguastarlight@gmail.com.  Here's hoping that you and yours have a most beautiful holiday season.

Recycling Pickup Service,
Coming Soon in January 2018
Have you ever had an overflow of plastic jugs because the bins at the recycle trailer were full or maybe you would just like to save money on your garbage collection? You want to do your part but would also like ease and convenience, we get it! A new service to pickup your recycling on a regular basis, from your designated pickup point, and deposit it at a recycling center will begin in just a few weeks. Don’t burn all those cardboard boxes that Santa brought, talk to your friends and neighbors today about this upcoming pickup service. Higher participation creates lower rates. More details and sign-up next week.

The Terlingua Bottoms Group of AA meets every Thursday at 7:30 at the Big Bend Church in Study Butte.  The meetings are open to anyone who has or thinks they may have a drinking problem.

Come by the Cottonwood General Store and check out all the Holiday Goodies the elves have been stocking the shelves with. We would like to wish everyone a Very Merry Christmas. We will be open 7am to 9pm on Sun Dec 24th and 12 noon to 8pm on Mon Dec 25th.

No Recycling Run this Thursday
Terlingua Recycles got a message from the recycling center in the park this morning that we won't be able to bring in our recyclables until after the first of the year. Those of you who said you'd help volunteer Thursday morning, we won't be making our special run after all. That said, we're sure going to need some help the next few weeks to keep things in good order around the recycling center here in Terlingua. If you're one of our awesome regular volunteers, please keep an eye out. We'll need all hands on deck in early January so, if you're not already a volunteer and would like to help out, please send a Facebook message to Terlingua Recycles or call 830.739.6986 for more info. What a great New Year's resolution!! Thanks!!

She is spayed, chipped and fully vaccinated, so she is ready to trot out the door. For more information about any pet in the Alpine Shelter, email heatherthemule@gmail.com
