Monday, March 2, 2020 @ 5:30 P.M.
Come celebrate the 184th anniversary of Texas Independence from Mexico with the annual impromptu parade between the Porch and the High Sierra celebrating the sacrifices of those who won our freedom that has been so easily forgotten by native Texans and unknown by the naturalized and visitors.
The parade is scheduled to begin around 5:30 P.M. (but is notoriously late) at the Porch.  The route will leave for the High Sierra, then turn around back to the Porch.  Gathering for the parade will be at any time necessary for the preparation of your "float" to make the 5:30 start.  Please try to attend with a float or just as a spectator.  Hope to see you there!

PLAY BALL! Come out Thursday for a pick up game of softball. Start time is at 4pm but come whenever you can. There will be gloves and bats for everyone. The fields are located by the Terlingua School.

Need a little lawyering???
Long time South County resident, Larry Goldenthal, has come out of a self imposed hiatus to offer his legal services to area residents.
A long established lawyer, his knowledge of law and business, communication and listening skills will set your mind at ease. Larry is happy to sit down and see if he can help you at no charge. He is available on a sliding scale for those wishing to have documents drawn up, such as Wills, Power of Attorney, Medical Directives, Deeds and more. HELP WANTED
Part time cashier/clerk position  at the Terlingua Trading Company. Please stop by the store in the Terlingua Ghost Town for an application.

Recycle this week is limited ONLY to some plastics and tin cans; the bins are almost full. All else has to be turned away.
Hours: Saturday, 10-12, also Wednesday, 4:00 to 5:30. Located behind the ball fields (look for the sign to turn before the fields)
OPEN CALL for volunteers; Thursday, Feb 27 there will be a run to PJ to empty the bins, and hopefully we'll have enough crew to help the park with their back load, as well.
Unfortunately, we may not be able to take another load until April or later, and have to shut down the bins when they are full. Park is currently experiencing personnel issues, with folks leaving and replacements not hired yet.
For suggestions or to volunteer, email Robert Krull at krullro@outlook.com

All Energies tip of the week: you can use a microwave oven off grid. A typical microwave oven draws about 900 watts and an average toaster draws about 1200 watts. Most off grid systems can handle a 2,000 watt or greater load.  The main advantage of a microwave is short cooking time which gives it a greater efficiency. A microwave operating for 15 minutes uses 360 wh while an equivalent toaster oven would take 50 minutes and use 950 wh of energy.   If you’ve got questions about solar or need help making your solar system work better, email casey@allenergies.net or call/text 432-242-1874 and call 371-2950  today.
