Terlingua MOON
September 17, 2019
Vol.  30   No. 38

by Million sMiles

"We have one life, one shot at all the glorious things of life, and we walk about constricted, apologetic, afraid. We have so little time; we have so little space upon which to spread our love and our talents and our kindness. Run toward life fulsomely and freely."            ~ Tennessee Williams

Mil Gracias from Team Ceillydee
Bob, Leo and I want to extend gratitude beyond words to our incredible community for all the love and support you have shown us during this crazy, difficult healing journey we are on.
The “Glamboree” benefit Sunday night was a humbling and heart filling experience beyond anything I could have imagined. 28 years in this community have shown me that the people who call Terlingua home are as solid and beautiful, as timeless and magical as the mountains that surround us. The landscape of caring and community here is as soul soothing as the quiet starry desert and I have always felt blessed to have found this place and this tribe and to be able to call both my home.        thank you thank you thank you-    I will forever be so grateful        Ceil ♥️

All Energies Tip of the Week: Charge controllers are the heart of any off grid solar system. The main function of a charge controller is to regulate the solar input to the batteries. They're sold by their maximum amp rating and many can be set to handle different system voltages such as 12, 24 and 48 volt. The smallest and least expensive charge controllers are Pulse Width Modulated (PWM). With PWM controllers, your solar modules need to be matched to your battery voltage or you can never get your array’s full potential! If you have a small system (500W input or less) PWM is okay, but for larger systems a Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) charge  controller makes more sense. About 20 years ago, MPPT charge controllers entered the market and completely changed the way we design solar systems. An MPPT controller takes the excess voltage from your modules, converts it down and increases the charging current to the batteries so you can get up to 98% of your array’s output rating. But make sure to get your charge controller from a reputable manufacturer, because a controller malfunction can destroy your batteries! If you need help making your solar system work better, email casey@allenergies.net or call/text 432-242-1874.
