Next Recycling date, Thursday May 2.
Now, more on our future of recycling. The Park has been very generous in letting us bring our recycles every month. However, the recycle business is getting rather difficult as some of you know. And what is hurting us is that too many people are using the trailer as a trash dump. Today we spent quite a bit of extra time sorting out the trash and non-recyle stuff. So we have been put on notice.
1. No more paper. Clean cardboard only. No empty greasy pizza boxes, ice cream cotainers, oil or paint stained cardboard.
2. Tin cans only in that box. Must be clean and rinsed. No metal, aluminum, etc.
3. Plastic. This is our biggest problem. ONLY #1 &#2 plastic. Must be clean. Today we sorted around 6 big garbage bags of trash from the plastic bins. Peanut butter jars, oil containers and much plastic other than what is allowed.
If we don't get better the Park will shut us off as their outlets are shutting them off.
I will be trying to sort stuff on a daily basic but can't do it all. If we don't get better we'll have to keep it locked down and only have certain hours to be open when someone can be there to make sure only what we are allowed to take to the Park is in there.

Have you started Spring Cleaning yet?
Brewster County Cleanup Day will be Saturday, April 13, from 9AM to 3PM.
Help keep our county beautiful by getting rid of that junk!
South County residents should haul to the County Yard on FM170.
Northwest County residents should take their items directly to the Alpine City Landfill.
Northeast County residents haul to the Albert Rd old landfill site.  Please, no commercial waste.

The Joys of Plein Air Painting: Threading a Needle While Riding a Bicycle in the Rain
Museum of the Big Bend, SRSU Campus
Join Trappings of Texas artist, Lindy Cook Severns, Fort Davis, Texas as she discusses the art of plein air or painting in the outdoors.
Lindy says, “Painting on location holds a mystique for artists and collectors, but creating a work of art while immersed in nature is as full of challenges as swamps are mosquitos. Artists seldom confess just how many works done on location never survive the trip back home, but sometimes, a fresh and lovely painting is born. Here’s a vulture’s eye view of how it all happens.”  Admission is free.

2 year old, tabby/short haired cat who is friendly, affectionate and playful! Beans is a great companion and has perfect house manners. His best features are his unique round eyes and his desire to engage with humans. Beans is FIV+ so he should only live with other cats if there is no tension, or be an only cat. He is currently living with Suzana, a shy cat who is also FIV+ and they get along just fine. Beans is fully vaccinated, neutered and microchipped. For more information on FIV+ cats, or any animal at Jethro Homeward bounds Pets, please email mmwesttx@yahoo.com.

SOTOL FESTIVAL 2019 IS THIS FRIDAY AND SATURDAY!
Announcing Sotol Festival 2019! Join us as we celebrate the indigenous distilled spirit of the Chihuahuan Desert at La Kiva Restaurant and Bar in Terlingua, Texas and Boquillas, Coahuila, MX on April 12-13.
At this one-of-a-kind, binational festival you will have the opportunity to try many brands of sotol and meet the sotoleros who produce it, along with on-site camping, live music, local vendors and more. If you are asking yourself “What is sotol?” or if you have known about this earthy elixir for years, this festival is for you.
On Friday, April 12, the festivities begin at La Kiva Restaurant and Bar, with live music from some of the best Terlingua local musicians. Saturday morning we're taking the party across the Río Grande from Big Bend National Park to our favorite town in México, Boquillas, for an authentic experience and to celebrate the unity, peace, dignity, and respect that we enjoy daily here in our piece of the borderland.  On Saturday night, the party reconvenes at La Kiva for more live music from the Pinche Gringos, The Doodlin' Hogwallops, and headliners, Mike & The Moonpies – and, of course, more sotol tasting!
Admission to Sotol Festival 2019 is free, and campsites are available to reserve now at www.sotolfestival.com. Official festival t-shirts and merch are also available for pre-order and are expected to sell out, so don’t wait. Pack your bags, don’t forget your passport, and get ready to SOTOL FEST!

UPDATED Tuesday: At about 6:30PM, water service was restored to the Ghost Town area.
Attention: Terlingua is currently experiencing a water service outage. A leak drained the storage tanks in the Ghost Town and the folks at Study Butte Water Supply Corporation are working to refill the lines. This will take time, however. Service should be fully restored by about 12
noon today.
The Study Butte side of the service area has a separate holding tank and at this time, Study Butte still has water.
You can call SBWSC at 432-371-2933 for more information.
