BIG BEND NATIONAL PARK, TX –Today, the National Park Service (NPS) cancelled the solicitation for a new concession contract (# CC-BIBE002-19), which provides lodging, food and beverage, automobile fuel, retail, RV park, and other visitor services within Big Bend National Park. Cancelling the solicitation follows the recent receipt of an engineering report to examine the extent of the instability of the soils beneath the Chisos Mountains Lodge (Lodge). Additional analysis and a planning effort, with public input, will be required to determine feasibility and options to remediate the problem in a manner that is financially and environmentally sustainable over the long-term Existing dining and retail services, and overnight accommodations in the Chisos Basin, will continue without interruption. everyone has been waiting for ...... Wire Connected to ZuZu "art pieces" will be available for purchase.  These pieces will be sold, and funds used to support conceptional art installations in 2019 with The Back Room.  A great chance for you to support the local art in West Texas and take home a piece of art.  This is our way of remembering.  How it began ......In 2017, a group of artists painted a series of boards reclaimed from an old adobe home.  These paintings are all abstract, no images.  Together they were hung in honor of Zuzu.  A beautiful tribute.  #zuzueffect.

SUPER MOON ON THE SPRING EQUINOX
The March full Moon is particularly special because it reaches its peak on the same day as the spring equinox, on March 20, 2019. The last time the full Moon and the spring equinox coincided this closely (4 hours apart) was in March 2000, but the last time they occurred on the same date was on March 20, 1981!  This full Moon is also a supermoon, meaning the Moon will be nearly at its closest to Earth for the month of March. It’s the year’s third (and final) of three straight full supermoons. This means that the Moon may “appear” brighter and bigger than normal, provided the night sky is clear and dark.

NOTICE: We received one extra 1,750 gal. Wylie

Donnie Daniels hasn’t found the rumored five feet tall blue bonnets but this one straightens out to almost 50 inches. And Editor’s Note: Keep your eyes open for weird colored Bluebonnets.

Dog of the week: Wiggles! is a healthy, playful 1-year old hound mix. She is very grateful for being in a foster home and lights up with excitement every time she gets to go for a walk. Wiggles is very affectionate and always "on the job" as a watch dog. She enjoys meeting new people and would do good in a home with kids with proper training. Wiggles would do best in a feline-free home, she seems a bit too curious about chasing cats. She is fully vaccinated, neutered and ready for her forever family! For more information or to meet this very sweet girl, email mmwesttx@yahoo.com.
