TERLINGUA MOON
January 8, 2019 Vol. 30 No. 2

Edited by Cactus Jane

“And if I loved you Wednesday,
Well, what is that to you?
I do not love you Thursday—
So much is true.
And why you come complaining
Is more than I can see.
I loved you Wednesday—yes—but what
Is that to me?”
~Edna St. Vincent Millay

THIS YEAR'S BLACKEYED PEA OFF was dedicated to Bill Bourbon, longtime participant, dearly missed, and honorary winner. Fun was had on Jan. 1st, as all ate black-eyed peas for good luck. First place went to Doug Christian of Terlingua; 2nd place to Abby Love, Austin, TX; and 3rd place was a tie between Cade Furlow (who's cooking team placed, last year) of O'donald, TX and Terlingua local Jennifer Hensen. A total of $2.552.00 (and counting) was raised for non-profit theater group, Last Minute, Low Budget Productions by our generous community. Music provided by Just Us Girls was magical, harmonic, nostalgia, one note at a time...goosebumps and tears of joy swept through dancers, audience, and even the band! The "hot date raffle" was a HUGE success, thanks to contributions from Lajitas Golf Resort, Chisos Mountain Lodge and Big Bend Resorts, the Starlight Theater and Big Bend Holiday Hotel, High Sierra Bar and Grill, Far Flung Outdoor Center, Big Bend Stables, and the Cottonwood General Store. Thank You, thank you, THANK YOU!!!! From Pam Ware.

A MESSAGE FROM JON BLACKMON: “... I am closing down all my websites (89 of them are related to Terlingua). Doctor bills have bankrupted me and I can't afford the $360 every six months to keep them active. The Chamber of Commerce is one that will be out of commission, as well as most of the businesses in town and of course my favorite, DrDougs.com.”

MARGARETE’S MISSING WATER. From Dani Bottenfield: To whom it may concern. Someone went to Margarete's Quilt shop and drained 11K gallons of water from all her tanks onto the ground.
This lovely lady has been in this community a very long time and she will now have to purchase water to replace what was lost. It is vandalism pure and simple. I hope you are proud.
