RECYCLING TRAILER
The trailer is getting full. I've locked off the plastic bins as they are full and posted signs around the trailer to this effect. Hopefully we'll get help and get it emptied on Thursday, Dec. 6. In the meantime I've been taking cardboard up to the recycle center at the Alpine landfill. I may need to start taking #1 and #2 plastic up there also to try and keep up.
So please don't leave anything outside the trailer. If we are full then please take it back home or take it to Alpine. Thanks, Robert

EL PASO VA
The El Paso Clinic Director, Michael Amaral, visited Brewster County 27 Nov. At 1100 he meet with 25 to 30 area Veterans to brief them on changes the VA is making on their health care. Now the VA must make appointments for Veterans and if farther than 40 miles from a VA facility or cannot make appointment in 30 days Veterans will be offered to use local resources or use a VA facility.
In our area there are many medical resources they can use instead of traveling to Big Spring or El Paso VA clinics. The Big Bend Regional Hospital is a Community Clinic meaning any services offered by Big Bend Regional Hospital can be used by Veterans once referred by VA. There are many changes still to come as new VA laws take effect. When Veterans call for appointments they should be sure VA representatives understand Veteran is over 40 miles away. We will endeavor to keep all Veterans updated as new procedures are implemented.

WELDING CLASSES
Hello everyone, Nehemiah's Outcry is hoping things are going well for everyone.  We have been involved in work and welding classes on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota and the Dine (Navajo) Reservation in the Gallup, New Mexico area.  We have had some huge improvements in the tools and equipment acquired because of some very gracious and wonderful people sympathetic to our objectives.  We are going to have this equipment on display at Big Bend Church, Sunday, December 9.  We will have it there for the church to see, but then in the afternoon, the trailer will be open for display for everyone to see.  Even if you are not interested in welding, anyone is most welcome to come see for yourselves what our great God has done as He has worked through great folks.  Then, at 3 pm that day, for folks interested in taking the welding classes, we will have a meeting allowing young people from 9th grade and older and adults to register, go through some orientation and see the schedule.  We will discuss hoodtime and projects that we could do.  If you have any questions, feel free to call Ray Bullock's cell at 432-837-3737 or leave a message on the church phone at 432-371-2243.  Email is noutcry@yahoo.com.
We hope to hear from you.

LUCILLE RECYCLES
Alpine friends, please share this information: Lucille (my 1982 Ford Truck) and I have started a business called Lucille Recycles. We are now offering residential monthly pickups for $25, if you live within the town's limits. Just text me to get started (432.258.8166) and please let your neighbors know so more recyclables can be hauled off and reused instead of creating a larger Big Bend landfill!

DENNIS MAUPIN
Just heard that Dennis Maupin passed... we had emailed recently about needing to get together and catch up... lots going on... He was a great guy and was instrumental in helping me get settled when I first moved to Terlingua. He built my porch, battery box, laid the concrete tiles for my outdoor hang-out space, and just generally kept my place functional for the first few years.  We'd have long talks about politics and economics... local history and gossip... he knew everybody on the ranch, it seemed, and all their stories.  We might not see each other for months at a time, but when we did see each other it was immediately comfortable... we just took up where we left off.  I really liked knowing he was over the rise in his dome sitting in his outdoor chair and watching the stars.  I'm going to miss him a lot.

Slim fOUr!
Make your plans now for the 4th Annual Slim Fest. Slim Richey was a world-renowned musician and part time resident of Terlingua. Slim left us all too soon in 2015 and his wife Francie wanted to carry on his musical legend here in his favorite "playground." The festival takes place at The Starlight Theatre in Terlingua Ghost Town and is exclusive to Slim Fest ticket holders on Friday and Saturday, February 8th & 9th. Ticket sales are capped at 175 and all sponsorships are gone so be sure to get your tickets now at www.faroutbooking.com. One thing folks may not know is that all of the musicians who play at Slim Fest were a part of Slim and Francie's world. Here's this year's lineup! The Guy Forsyth Blues Band, Wood & Wire, Alan Munde, The Bill Kirchen Trio, The Emily Gimble Band, The Paper Moon Shiners, The Spare Tire, Three Hands High, Uh Clem & The Grands, JoBuk Johnson and Slim & Francie's band, The Jitterbug Vipers. Thursday and Friday are also part of Slim fOUr but open to all and an open mic! For more info or questions call: 830.739.6986

WILL HURD
TORNILLO, TX – Rep. Hurd released the following statement regarding the Tornillo Facility:
“The problems we are seeing in Tornillo are as shameful as they were in June and symptoms of a much larger problem that we’ve spent years ignoring – a broken immigration system. Similar to building a wall from sea to shining sea, detaining kids in Tornillo is the most expensive and least effective policy approach that fails to address root causes of migration flows or make anyone safer. I’ve said this repeatedly, without working with our partners in Central America, we will not solve our current border crisis which impacts the daily lives of thousands of constituents in my district.
